Regret - New Order mix

Did they ever intend the New Order mix of Regret to be the main release?.Was it this version that was originally down to be the one played on the airwaves etc.?.Or is it just included on the single as an alternative mix?.Its pretty good in its own right but but can`t really imagine it as being the main airplay mix.

A New Order mix without Hooky bass is like a John Lennon solo album consisting solely of Yoko Ono songs:

I thought the NewOrder mix was better than the album version. It sounds more like Technique era,and Hookys bass is more prominent. Its not too polished or over produced.

The credits on the single describe it as a remix.

Of course, Regret and Young Offender were begun before Stephen Hague was involved in the project so maybe this is how they originally envisioned the song sounding. It's also missing some of the lyrics from the final/album version.

To me, it sounds more like Electronic than Technique.

The best bit on the New Order Mix of Regret is just that dreamy, trance-like last couple of minutes just after hooky's bass fades out (normally the 'i guess that's what they all say' bit). I reckon the original would sound fantastic if that ending was used...

Eh? Hooky`s bass is quite prominent on this mix or are you on about New Order mixes in general?

I love them both. The Album version has a cool kind of raw edge to it, and the new order mix has the more beautiful, soulful sound one associates with some of their late eighties work. Both are terrific, wonder why so much of the album was such sh!te. I only enjoyed Regret, Everyone Everywhere, and Special.

Well I've made my own version of the album... I never listen to the original versions of World or Ruined In A Day. I put the K-Klass mixes on instead... and I also added Vicious Circle as I think it's quite a catchy dance track, makes much better listening! Although the album does go off a bit after Everyone Everywhere.
