Yes...Martin Hannet did indeed produce Cries and Whispers...but as for the rest of your questions, I know not the answers...
In the *great* feature on NO in Mojo, they talk about Hannett doing a lot of takes on C and W. As for ICB, I've always heard it as being "Ian Curtis is Buried", so that's what I go by. I always figured "The Him" was indeed a pun on "hymn", but I could be wrong. I feel I've only added to your confusion....
Oh, and I think New Order are credited with producing Temp and Hurt, but somebody else already said that...
