Is it JD? or was it recorded for the movie. If its JD, which version is it and where can it be found? Im not up to date on all of the live recordings. Thanks on advance for any help.

the one where they are 'performing' it. I think it's just the studio version (from factory sample, substance, still) with a little bit of over dubbing of vocals, audience etc to make it sound more live.
It's the original studio version (there is only one studio version of Digital I know of) I think if you go through the documentaries the second disc in the 24HPP DVD set (in the UK anyway) they tell you how they integrated alot of the original JD songs into the scenes. I think the guy in charge of the "Musical Direction" was Martin someone (Marscop?) from A Certain Ratio and he explained how they took the original recordings and speeded them up/reverbed them to make them sound like they were live and in sync with the actors. Same with other tracks in the film like "Flight", "Transmission" and "LWTUA" etc. The soundchecking Happy Mondays version of "Loose Fit" (with "Horseman" and Rowetta doing vox) seemed genuinely live though.
Worked really well too, I remember thinking how brilliant they sounded through proper cinema speakers

What about the version of Blue Monday in the movie? I though that the actors had to do it live?

Yes, the BM version was live, I forgot about that. John Simm really is singing there. I meant my original post as a generalisation of how the original Joy Division songs were incorporated into the scenes as the actors obviously didn't perform the tracks (except a few rough strums at the Unknown Pleasures recording studio scenes)

Um, a bit. By the time you reach that part of the film you've accepted Simm as Barney anyway so it's tough (and pointless) being too judgemental. I'd say he did a good job though, he's definitely singing "in Barney's style" but the voice is naturally a little bit different, but not that different if you get my meaning.
