Why no 25th aniversary reissue for Joy Division?

I read today that London Calling will be reissued by Sony for its 25th edition.

Am I stupid to say that Unknown Pleasures SHOULD have had a special reissue for its own 25th?

Is it a missed opportunity?

Perhaps, but next year is Movement's 25th aniversary.. I would mind a remastered album with a bonus disc containing rarities

No, it's not.

Yeah anniversary editions are notoriously bad taste most of the time (See The Smith's "Paint A Vulgar Picture" lyrics) I only ever buy them if they're definitively mastered and contain a shedload of extra tracks/decent booklet, and the new Clash reissue does seem to have all that. An Unknown Pleasures anniversary edition would be pretty pointless IMO, especially when your average punter could just fork out an extra ten-fifteen quid and have the band's entire career plus a great booklet in the Heart & Soul boxset.

As far as Joy Division goes, the H&S boxset is the only anniversary release you really need. I feel like trading in my CD copies (Centredate..boo) of Unknown Pleasures, Closer, and Substance since I haven't touched them in ages. Perhaps Still is worth hanging onto though. The last thing I (and many fans no doubt) want is to see Joy Division's career being milked for new Best ofs every five years. (the best of) + (the rest of) NewOrder, International, and Retro have already scraped New Order's career barrel so much London are in danger of breaking into the barrel below! To be fair to London though, they have treated JD's stuff with relative respect (so far) but I think that has alot to do with Deborah Curtis controlling permissions and protecting Ian's legacy. They standardly reissued all the CD albums after Factory collapsed, released the remastered Permanent 1995 compilation that was actually very good, and of course the H&S boxset which was very carefully handled and worked out as a great purchase for any JD/NO fan. (Unlike Retro)

No more JD releases are needed basically, Ian wasn't Tupac fucking Shakur! :P (Thank god)
