You make it sound as though Smith/Gallop and the others who I could't name are in some way superior to anything else and as such, others should follow their lead.
There has not been a good Cure album since 1982, 22 fookin' years! and before you say 'Disintegration', it is totally overated.
Pity as I really liked The Cure from '79 to '82 but they have bad since they kicked Tolhurst off the drum stool.
I don't mean that they're superior, but their lineup has changed since 1979, and only Smith is there, but the band still plays the songs. The instrumentation sounds completely different, especially when Porl was in the band, but they still play them.
Now, JD/NO is different for obvious reasons, although I kind of like Isolation with Barney singing.
