List what JD songs you like or would like to see played by the Order, and what songs you would prefer they didn't.
Should not: Digital. The Finsbury Park performance made me cringe. They managed to turn a serious song into a bit of a joke.
Should: Disorder. Not as 'angry' as some JD songs and Bernard would have to try really hard to mess up on the vocals.

I don't think they should play Atmosphere as much as they do. The NO rendition isn't that bad but Barney just can't hope to match the emotion and power of Ian's vocal there. They perhaps should have played Atmosphere once or twice at homecoming gigs, and then shelved it. I don't think it's the kind of song to be rolled out everytime the band do some anonymous festival. It seems too special for that.
As for songs they should play, they did an amazing job of Isolation and I'd love to keep hearing that on future setlists. I also wouldn't mind hearing a Barney-vocal version of New Dawn Fades rather than Moby continually murdering it :P Generally I can understand why they're doing it but alot of JD songs don't come across brilliantly with Barney on vocals. It's not his fault, it's just that he and Ian have vastly different vocal styles. Ian was more intense, Barney's more pop a'la Regret or True Faith and that doesn't suit half the JD catalogue. Plus you can see Barney visibly stifling his "whoops!" and trying to keep his monkey dancing in check during the course of any JD song live :D

I have yet to see NO play live so any of them would be good for me. I don't think NO should play Ceromony though. I know NO recorded as their own but Barney really can't cope with the vocals on that song the music always seems to drain him out.
LWTUA is always got to be good just for the attompshere of the crowd I would imagine. It is JDs staple song so it will always go down well.
She's Lost Control is a difficult song I would imagine to sing well so its best left to Ian Curits although a short 1 minute instrunmental version would be nice.
Decades - I don;t think NO have ever played this live if they have it probably would have either reduced the audience to tiers or emptied the room :p
New Dawn Fades - One of my favourite JD tracks so I would love to hear this live.
Transmission - One of JDs more up beat tracks so should be good life.
Attompshere - I agree with what others have said about Barney not quite reaching it.
I know I have critised Barney's voice a bit on this post but he isn't Ian Curtis and he dosn't pretend to be. Barney's voice was made for tracks such as Blue Monday or True Faith were it really suits.
To be honest I don't really enjoy the Joy Division tracks at all I normally skip them on both the 316 and 516 DVD's... with the exception of Isolation and Atmosphere.
I have to disagree with the MadManc, Dunno how you can slag Barney during Ceremony, it's one of the most played New Order songs at concerts, and most of the time Barney does it perfect justice! Obviously there are a few shows when they have nightmares - but who doesnae me ole packet of spuds? And Ceremony is most definitely a neworder song
As fer Atmosphere - when Barney concentrates he nails it - either watch or listen to Reading 98 then you'll see what I mean matey.
Decades HAS been played by New Order before - but I'll let the OLD fuckers on here comment about that:D
As fer JD songs, NO should play what they want, they played a rather large part in them.
My thoughts on the songs live?
Isoaltion and Heart & Soul - Dogs Bahollocks.
Everyone seems to love LWTUA live - but I'd definitely swap it for Subculture or Face Up or HTS or.....
Transmission was great as well, I'm in two minds about Digital, Finsbury was ruined by getting Barney Jnr onstage - but it definitely has potential, I can't remember if it was played at MOVE, I was rather pished
NDF I never got to see live - but I'd love to hear the Order do it on their tod. She's Lost Control is another one I'm not too sure about, gets a great crowd reaction though.
Personally I'd love them to have a stab at 24 hours.

Barney sounds fine on Ceremony but you can tell his vocal style isn't quite there yet. I think it was the mid 80s when Barney started to develop that soft pop-like style which you hear on True Fauth and Regret. You can tell the difference when you listen to the original Temptation and then listen to the one from Substance. Was alot deeper when NO first started.
Ceremony is fucking class!
While it is nice to see them able to break out the JD material, it just isn't the same. Not the same intensity. Bernard, to be fair, doesn't do them justice.
Isolation was good, and as I say to see them playing really old stuff like Digital is nice but they should pick what they play a bit more carefully.
i wish i saw them play heart & soul. one of my fave tracks of all time. 
i don't think they should play early JD stuff for sure like Glass, Failures, Ice Age, etc. But would love them to do a whole JD Substance set, you know? Starting from Warsaw to LWTUA. That would be pretty cool.
Just to be analy retentive Eric, are Warsaw and Leaders Of Men not just as early as the other JD songs you mentioned?

Some early New Order concerts are hard to listen to, but I fully agree around 85/6 you can start to hear a much more comfortable Barney singing. The Academy video from early 87 is a perfect example showing how tight they became, it's fucking fantastic and shows the Order at their best, both musically and singing wise.
To these ears, the only JD songs they have ever done justice were Decades (twice in 1984) and Transmission. They've managed to ruin the rest, Barney's vocals just don't suit them.
I wish they wouldn't do any of them at all, except maybe as an occasional treat. A set with half a dozen JD songs in just doesn't feel right to me. Leave the JD to Reilly and the Ticktocks.
They must play them all, right now! And plenty of whooping and screaming by Barney is preferred!!!

NewOrder shouldn't play any Joy Division songs, as JD were inferior to NO anyway, & it just makes Bern, Pete & Steve look like a cheesy, middle-aged, past-it covers band.... Which I guess they are!
I still think Gareth Gates should cover 'LWTUA', it'd really get his career back on track! ;)

Maybe NO have every right to "cover" JD songs seen as how they're basically the same band, but didn't Barney say years ago that NO would never play JD songs again? A musician's promise: not worth the breath it's wasted on...

Yes he did say something along those lines but I don't recall that being a promise.
And they have been playing JD tunes all along...they never really stopped playing them through the 80's at all...just not with the frequency they are played today.

...the same argument that leads to The Doors still touring even though two of the band aren't with them anymore (1 for obvious reasons) and with Ian Astbury standing in for the dead guy as he seems to do often these days (The Doors, MC5). It's a matter of dignity, and whooping and whistling through JD songs is just embarassing.

I'd like them to play HTS, but I'm afraid it'll pale in comparison to the single version, like Crystal did. With both songs, I liked them because of the vocals, but, live, the vocals for Crystal just sounded strained.
As a further comment,some of the older NO stuff should be dusted off as well, esp. to give Blue Monday a bit of a holiday. Tracks I have in mind are (1)EGG (2)Procession(3)Dreams Never End & (Shuggsy's Fave) (4)Subculture. There's plenty of others I'm sure that deserve being done live again as well.
