Hi,

This is my first post on the message board, although I read it quite frequently. I was wondering if anyone has any info on the song "Homage" ?

Thanks,

Shawn

Apart from it's crap?

Recorded as part of the Western Works demo, played live twice (I think) and then forgotten about. Which was probably for the best...

The first victim of the New Order Quality Control board. Thankfully they have produced few duffers over the years, maybe one or two JD tracks slipped through, but only a handful in twenty-odd years. Possibly the first one that someone other than their QA man Ian rejected?

It was one of four tracks recorded at Cabaret Voltaire's Western Works studios in July 1980. They did a very good performance of the song at Boston 12/80 and I for one liked the song, Steve Morris is excellent on this and 'lyrics' apart, it is very upbeat and energetic. Bring it back as the next single!

I have a copy of "homage" but it sounds terrible, and yes, Stephen is the best singer in the group, but they decided against him singing because it's a bit too much like being Phil Collins.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I got a bootleg from '80 off of Soulseek. The song was part of the set and I had never heard of it before. Just wanted a little background on it.

Thanks again,

Shawn

I quite like it, steve works wonders on this, the bassline is a little crap...no real tune but then that's not a problem at this stage.
