You might not notice but I changed the "online user" system today, because it took me a lot of time to find out, but this was the reason why we had so many "object not set blabla" errors on NOOL.

I did it diffently, let's see if it works right.. first thing is to make sure it doesn't bug any other section of the website.

So, let me know if you see anything weird...!

I have noticed one weird little thing-- Don't know if it's related or not. If I'm not logged on, and I try to respond to a post, I log on (like before), and then, instead of being able to respond to the post, I'm redirected to the home page, and must go back to the thread I wanted to respond to before I can respond.

Hum, actually this should never happen.

Let me know if anyone else has that problem!

I think I fixed it, let me know.

It's not just me then?!

Does it work now?

Nope, and you've also set all the times to Canuck.

Its funny that I always find on Smiths websites if I say I like New Order that crashes too.

Stop me if you think you have heared this one before. Hooky was due in London but he didn't have a stich to wear, this charming man:)

I must say these errrors are not giving me much confidence in ASP.NET. My major project this year is going to have be produced in C# sharp net. I can see it has some major advantages though especialy in the way it handles of variables.

Something's still not right....

I have Digital Republic and BCD on my favourite list, if I log out and log back on again using my favourites - it takes me back to the New Order Online homepage.......and I NEVER visit the homepage;)

Or the spelling error.

Nic, I can get to the forum straight away now, but still no yellow lights and American time. Doesn't change even if I log in again.

There do seem to be quite a few technical problems every other day with NOOL, which is a pity. No offence Nick, but could we have something simpler and more user-friendly, without all the bells and whistles on? It's not as if anyone uses any of the site besides the message board anyway!

No offense Tim, but that's the point of me doing NOOL, it's my benchmark for my job.

However, compared to my job, I don't have time to do all the testing I should do.

I know it might be a pain when errors are found, but that's what I'm trying to do, fix them all! This last change was to fix the most annoying of them all, apparently, it fixed it, but it's not working 100% fine now, I believe the amount of people online is way too high, however it would explain some stats i've seen...

Maybe the forum part is the most active one, but it's because it's the one I put most of my efforts in, I'm now working on the rest, while fixing things.. I do get an email at each error the site has, and it had many over the last days (and before that) due to the error I fixed... now I have to tweak the quick fix, that's all, it doesn't stop anyone from posting!

That is funny though, on ALL pages?

I see them properly, and I'm NOT on the same timezone as the server...

Why not let the moderators do some testing before it goes live?

Because it's difficult to have a proper testing environment...

However, it could be done... but right now, I'm trying to fix all problems on this one... and as long as I'm receiving error message, it's not done.

Unfortunately, most problems have been hosting problems so far, it's quite rare I introduce new bugs in the application myself, I do test a few things, but as the "user with all powers", sometimes I neglect testing as a regular user :(

 By the time I'd have finished TESTING it, there'd be fuck all left for Nicos to fix:evil4:

Keep up the good work Spotty - you are appreciated

Another weird thing: I can see the results of the Sarah Jessica Parker poll, but can't vote in it. Weird.

OK, now I was able to vote. Very weird.

Oh, and the log on problem I had previously (trying to post brought me back to the home page) has been cleared up, presumably by the "brains of the outfit."

my problem.

i go to the main page and then to the forum list. and for a few days now the system doesn´t recognize me or something because i have no "new thread messages" to read when it´s clearly the opposite. i can see the X forums, though. and i can post! but then i´d go to the forum list again and BANG! no more X forums for me.

besides i received an email reponse from an "Unknown User" to a thread i started. when i went there it was not there and still isn´t!
