I have just watched the Crystal video and noticed it said The Killers on the drum. I then typed this up in google to see if it was connected to the band and it is

The Killers actually named their band after the video.
Didn't the Order mention it to you Ian , when you saw them out and about in Manchesters nightclubs ?

I imagine he'd like to think a few people on here would envy him living in such a vibrant city etc , such a vibrant city that he had to watch 24hpp people before he knew about JD and the Order , in 20 years time he'll watch a film about the Manchester scene set in 2004 , and tell everyone all about Badly Drawn Boy , Rae and Christian and the rest of the Oldham street scene , he'll then put Badly Drawn Boy in google and discover that he used to be known as Roughly Sketched Twat in Worsley

I'm proud to say I've never seen '24 Hour Party People'. I'd love to deep down, but I'm worried it'll just put me off NewOrder totally, seeing a bunch of luvvies ham it up with the band & everyone surrounding them giving their blessing. It was bad enough buying the soundtrack CD & finding out Wanker Wilson had written the sleevenotes.
I actually got into NO when the 1994 'Best Of' album came out, which is perhaps just as bad as hopping on the '24HPP' bandwagon like Ian & the rest, seen as how that particular compilation is considered by the veteren NO faithful to be a pile of ploppies. Having said that, for some reason, I prefer 'Best Of' to 'International', I thought the 2001 comp was just a complete waste of everyones time & effort.

Nothing wrong with the How ,When , Why and Where anybody gets into a band , fuck all wrong with best of's , compilations , movies whatever , y'know what I mean they serve a purpose .... the thing with this madmanc attitude , though , to set oneself up as an expert is fuckin risky at best , but the bloke sometimes comes accross as a bit preachy ,all this stuff about seeing the band about town , does he mean when they were at the Gretton tribute or Hooky at south ? He makes it seem as if he is bumping into them on a fuckin social basis 'round M/Cr , is that so people in farflung places will think he is somesorta " face " ?

I wasn't even born when New Order were formed so forgive me for not being around when they were at their best. As for Badly Drawn Boy he is a neighbour of mine and used to be a friend of Rob Gretton's.
I was into New Order before 24HP came along but I hadn't really heared much JD stuff before that. I have also seen many modern bands and I am very much aware of the 2004 scene which isn't as vibrant of the one from yesterday.
Have you not thought of perhaps growing up a little instead of picking on the young New Order fans?

Yes I do mean Hooky at South and the Rob Gretton tribute. I am sorry if I come across that way I am just interested in Manchester music which is why I setup the website that I did. I never claim to be an expert in fact I know nothing about NO compared to a lot of people here.

Off course not, I just thought my site was a good place to put everything manc music related. It is lacking in a lot of content at the moment but it will take time to grow.

Going back to the satrt of this thread about The Killers.Yeah the albums first five or so tracks are good if not very innovative but reasonably entertaining but the last few on the album are slightly dire .I think they will be one of those bands that release a second album a year or two later that is crap and sells about two copies and we never hear from again.Seen it so many times over the years but thats the way it is with so many bands.No longevity.One reasonable album and that`s all their ideas used up.

Nah, just a random rendezvous between various people up North for the footie - JG was at Crewe-Leeds, Gordie at B'burn-Pompey and I was up for Stockport-Luton. Met ATR in town and that was one of the 'In The City' bars showcasing bands. Good night all in all.
Was in Dry earlier in the evening though and saw the posters for Gerald/808 but only twigged late on it was the same night. Originally thought it was just a retro poster from 88/89 or something! Shame, cos no one I was with fancied it either.
Of course I bloody well owned 'Substance'. I should have said I owned 'Best Of' first.
As it goes, I don't own bog all to with NO since I sold it all. It's like all I have now are my memories... 
Still, best not to dwell on such things, it could be the dawning of a new era for JSB & his music. Now, where's that guy who is selling all his Whitesnake CDs?... :D
