Should Doves release BLT?

Can I just ask why you think it should be released? What as, a single?

Doves are an exellent band who can use any style of music and still maintain their bittersweet sound. They have the talent, the credibility, and the obscure connection to New Order. I bet they would do a terrific cover to BLT, I can't think of anybody more capable. :)

Yet it was a very very good version but maybe it was part of the hype of seeing it live. I would personaly love it be released, the single didn't do well in 1986 so if it was released maybe it could get into the top 20 like it deserves.

Erm I seem to remember people saying who gives a f**k about Morrissey only two years ago, now he has sold out many large stadiums including Earls Court and the MEN.

I would imagine it would be released on the Dove's record label. I agree as a single it probably would not do well but that did not stop Warsaw releasing singles did it?

Maybe it would be better an album track, 511 live, err perhaps not it would only have four tracks on it:D

If it was going to be released I would expect it to be an extra track on a single. Given that both Doves and New Order are supposedly in the final stages of recording new albums (although I expect them to be released in early 2005) the issue of what extra tracks to put on a new single may have been considered. I wouldn't be suprised if the track in question was released, although there would have to be some negotiations to decide whether it would appear on a Doves single or a New Order single.

no - not worth time or effort. they should get on and make new and hopefully equally good/important music. sub sub's "past" is an incredible track and is much of the doves' music. they should continue to push on and stay away from the covers.

For the record, Morrissey is selling out gigs because he is being professionally marketed. Not a forte of either New Order or Doves.

If they do " and you forgotten .... ? " again next year , then a numbered disc with yer ticket would be nice , the charities get their donation , the fans get a souvenier and ebay gets a shedloada business the next day from the none Order/Doves attendees who would rather have had a Mr Scruff mash instead , people from forn parts get a chance to buy online and everyone goes to Spikes for a tea party with Jello and hashcakes .....might work .

And that's as much exposure as it ever need have. Let's face it, it doesn't have the major production done on it that Bernard would insist on before allowing it to be released, it's not particularly good even. There is only a very limited market for it and all kinds of record company/copyright issues.

If anyone wants it released, I suggest they issue it themselves as a bootleg, find a pressing plant and do it the old way, but be prepared to accept the consequences. It may be best to release it in Italy only and then export it. The only way round getting done!!

I'm talking about the studio version that was aired on BBC... not the live one !

If they've already recorded it in a studio and it has received airplay, then it will be released in some form. They wouldn't have gone to the trouble of recording it and then allowing it to be played if it wasn't going to be released.

Doves already have released a version of BLT - back in 2002......it's called "Pounding"

(Check the chords on the chorus - identical to the BLT chorus) :D

Why don't they release it as a charity single? The Doves get pubcility the fans will be pleased and charities will benefit. Both Doves and New Order fans will but it.

And have you heard "Chocolate" by SnowPatrol? THAT to me sounds like a slowed down version of "Pounding" by Doves!
