hey laddys, during the early new order days whent they recorded i was told just recentley that gillian played the opening riff to dreams never end, and everythings gone green... but did she create those riffs? or just played what barney wrote... well either way my friend told me hes sick of people telling him that barney was a guitar god... and that actually barney always sucked at guitar.... im a guitarist myself and i do know deep in my heart barney doesnt stand out too much to someone like vini rielly or reg from Chameleons . but barney held some sort of quantum connection to the songs that his guitar would be only the one that could connect and while another outstanding guitarist wouldnt have tickled the clit too much where she would tell you to stop:nod: what do you Peeps think>?

or do i even make sense?:confused2:

Fecal matter extracted from bovines. Not seen the vids where Bernard is playing the guitar riffs? Gillian's not much of a guitarist. Bernard's not bad, not a legends but not Rickey Edwards either. Who do you think was playing Shadowplay and all those live? Ian??

I think Gillian is an excellent keyboardist and guitarist since she seems not to be interested in either of them.

Obviously, the studio version has more than 1 guitar, so it might even be Bernard 3 times on there ;)

Sorry, not a musical expert at all :)

I think Barney's a genius on guitar! :thumb: That was precisely why I was so disappointed with "Get Ready". I'm a big fan of the stuff he did in Joy Division and think he's generally massively underrated. Just because he's not a fret-wanking technically perfect player like Mark "Knobler" or other twats doesn't mean a thing. Despite sloppy (strumming) playing on Get Ready, I'd like to see a modern band come out with the riff from Crystal out of pure originality rather than copycatting their late 70s post-punk idols. Of course Johnny Marr's a much better player, but I'd rather listen to Barney over much more pretentious "I know I'm a great guitarist" players like Dire Straits man, or even Sprinsteen. Fuck 'em, let them have their place in the Guiness Book Of Record's "quickest fret-wanking session", proper music fans know there's much more to communicating emotion in song.

All respect to Gillian, but Barney plays the guitars in New Order and I think that's more than obvious from all the records and live performances. It's just of late he's gotten a little tired and needs help :D

of course May dEath come to those Quick Gun Frett wankers... the guitar is like a girl... you arent supposed to rape to her ... you are supposed to make love to her... my favorite guitarists come in forms of Taking a Different route then say VAn halen i think he can suck my big fat crooked cock... i enjoy the arts of johnny greenwood Ed O'brian both from Radiohead, johnny marr, Graham Coxon, VIni Reilly... they dont rape the guitar.. they take them out on romantic dates and then maybe a late night showing of an indie film:love2:

He's not a great guitarist, but, whenever I think about New Order, the bass always seems to be the more important guitar. Barney's parts are pretty basic, and Gillian really doesn't play on many songs. He plays decent rhythm guitar, but don't expect any solos from him.
