I hope not, that would make him iconic, when in reality he was a very troubled, sad, unpredictable, depressed individual person, but it's up to the people of Manchester in the end.

I can't remember the sourcebut it was a joke about 24HPP and te hype surounding Joy Division in 2002. A journelist as a joke said at this rate there will be a statue of Ian Curtis in ST Ann's Square.
As far as I know there are no such plans to put up a statue of Ian Curtis and the majority of mancs don't know who he is anyway.
I suppose a statue of Ian Curtis will be more revelent than a lot of the older people with statues who no longer have much impact on modern society.
