Well, people didn't like having Billy Corgan nor Bobbie Gilespie on Get Ready....
But how would you feel if both part would have been done by Hooky himself? or on the next album? Would it be the same?
Is New Order strictly Bernard (minus the Movement songs we know) ?
I'm not fond of Hooky's voice, since it sounds too harsh. Actually, I wouldn't mind David Gahan singing with Barney on the album. Or, if Neil Tennant sang on a track, that wouldn't be bad, either. He and Barney always sounded good together.
Hooky would be a good voice to add on certain types of tracks, but I am just hoping for no more high profile junk voices being featured.
What about Phil Cunningham? I really think he matches perfectly. At least he showed off quite fairly.
Having guest singers means absolutely nothing to me. I like my bands to be self-contained and creative.

I'm not sure I understand exactly where you are coming from with this question. Hooky is part of New Order, it doesn't matter which member of New Order sings (besides Steve, who can't!!) though I'd baulk at Phil singing. New Order has always been Bernard and Hooky singing, sure Bernard sings more than Hooky, but Hooky has always done backing vocals. I'd have no qualms about Hooky singing if he wanted to, but will raise two questions of my own:
why this perceived need (from fans) to have a different vocalist just because the last record had them? Get Ready's guest performers was an experiment, partly because they'd been away for so long they needed the fallback of a way into the US market, such as using Corgan. The marketing of the album before it came out virtually admitted as much, the blurb concentrated on Corgan/Gillespie rather than Bernard, Hooky and Steve!
what is wrong with just having Bernard sing them? He's by far the best vocalist they have, to the extent that they now use the fragility of his voice as an instrument in itself, it is the counterbalance by which the songs hang, in much the same way that they used to use a single keyboard line. Who do people always want things to change?

As far as I know, nobody ever complained about the duet on Someone Like You for the chorus... apart that it is cheesy.
I don't say there will be guest vocalists, plus, it can't be a guest vocalist if it's a member of the band OF COURSE, the idea was to attrack people into this thread.
But I mean, why not asking Hooky to do it, unless it's impossible at that moment (example, Rock The Shack in the Evening Sessions)

Hooky voice is better than that girly squeaky Neil Tennants.
I think the biggest clue here lies within. They've made seven albums or whatever it is, plus two as Joy Division, and Hooky has done lead vocals on two songs. That's two out of quite a lot, he apparently doesn't want to do lead vocals. He didn't sing on many Monaco songs either. I haven't heard Revenge, so couldn't say. Live backing vocals for New Order is another matter altogether.

Not sure about that, if they wanted to capitalize on guest vocalists, Turn My Way would have been released as a single in the USA.
I'm still sure this was a sure hit.
Bernard Sumner's voice was perfect for tracks like True Faith and Bizarre Love Triangle... but Hooky would definitely sound better on their harder edged tracks.
And besides I actually prefer his voice, honest!

Well, just remember that YOU sir used the key word 'Persistant'...meaning that he has done this since No have been around, both live and on the albums.

Really? I always thought that Pottsy had a much 'Whinier' voice than Barney. Maybe it's just me, but It always sounded to me that Potts sounded like he just got kicked in the nuts by Peter!!

Theres a video around somewhere of me trying to sing True Faith while a friend of mine tries to do the drum line too close to the mike pickup so I'm virtually inaudible... scary stuff though, always worried it could become blackmail material.

I wouldnt mind hooky doing a bit of singing here and there on one track. But of course, bernard has the better voice.
I'm sick of bands having guest vocalists on their albums, i'ts becoming incestuous. Barney doesn't need help singing, he can sing fine by himself. 
Love Barney's voice and singing, also love Gillian's and she's contributed a few times. Not sure how she'd sound with Barney's fully matured vocals as he sang a lot differently when they actually sang together on Movement. Kind of strange listening to him album by album until Technique, I actually wasn't sure it was one vocalist handling all the singing duties when I first discovered him as he sounds distinctly different from album to album from Movement until Technique.
