I own the substance album on double 12".

My local record shop has got the original copy of 12" tempation for £5 and Ceromony, there are two Ceronemy 12", one has a white sleeve, one has a black one, what is the difference between them?

All these singles are £5 are they easy to come by or should I snap them up even though I can't really afford them? They have got quite large New Order collection in at the moment as the sale as just ended so he has a load of new stock.

If the other one really has a black sleeve, I would get it without hesitating. AFAIK, there never was a black sleeve for Ceremony. If it's true, feed me details, and buy it and I'll trade you for it.

Check out the New Order Discography for info regarding the Ceremony release. It gets a little bit compilcated if you're trying to track down different versions...

It may have been dark green, there light wasn't too good in the shop.

PS Ceremony!:evil4:4

I quite like collecting JD/New Order stuff. Another record they had which I am buying tomorrow is a promo 12" of Hear to Stay.

Definately worth getting the temptation 12", as neither tracks are the same as the ones on Substance. "Hurt" is a couple of minutes longer than the edited version on Substance, Temptation is a completly different recording. Plus the sleeve is cool.

Thanks I am going to take a tenner with me and go mad. I may be a poor smelly student put as the twat himself would probably say "you can't put a price on music":)

I agree 100%, i just hope the black cover of Ceremony isn't a bootleg. Tell us about it when you get it.

Just bought it, not have chance to listen to it yet. It is in fact dark green but with the protective plastic sheet over the sleeve and the dim light in the shop it looked black. I just hope it is the original recording.

I am assuming its the original and not the re-recorded version. It is different substance. The music is better, the bass is stronger but Barney's voice is not as strong.

Musicialy it is one of the best New Order songs I have heared though, the bass is thumping really hard and my HIFI dosn't even have any tone controls:)

I think this version is quite a bit better than the substance version. It really dosn't sound like it was written by Ian Curtis and released in 1981.

The temptation 12" has good music but vocaly its quite raw and a bit hard to listen to.

Yeah, the original Ceremony is quite good and always deserves a good listen.

Now, the Temptation 12", you betta show some respect!! That IS the version that is considered to be the "Lost Classic" by NO. Raw it may be...bu that IS the track that shoulda been more to this world!!

I have just listened to it again, musicaly it is very good its just such a shame about the weak vocals. Mind you Barney was to busy having snow ball fights with hooky during the recording of that or was that Stephen?;)

Hey ya Buf! Let's not get hasty now...I wouldn't go so far as to say that it is sooooo much BETTER (As many do), but it certainly is in a clas of it's own.

As far as I'm concerned...they're different songs all together.

But that's just me. I enjoy them equally.

Wouldn't be fair if Spiker was the only one I picked on for his spelling, now would it?
