i guess the chemicals brothers collaboration will be released NEXT year. Next year, because the "60 mph" release was a bit too late. i think there has always to be a space of about three months between two (single-) releases...the usual policy of record companies...so that would be in 2002...
Is this fabled Chemical Toilet Brothers song going to be any good do you 'reckon or will it be a 4-on-the-dancefloor mover and a shaker with Barney singing over the top of a drum machine with little or no music?
well..."Out of Control" with the Chemical Brothers wasn't too bad...
...but i do hope that it's NOT going to be a NewOrder-song remixed by the ChemBros.

Not sure Hunts. Bear in mind the Chems (rated T.Faith as their fave of all time)have a bit more respect for NO than most remixers seem to. I think it'll be a beefed up NO tune, similar in a way to that last one they did with the simpleton Gallagher.

Has anyone hear actually heard 'Here To Stay' yet? I know there's copies knocking about, but I've yet to hear one.
As for next year, I reckon it'll go quiet post Australia. Presuming they still do Australia? Perhaps a couple of festivals or something if we're lucky? But that's about it.

your forecast doesn't include another trip to America, Allen? I suppose if they're playing the same set, i wont be missing too much. It would be nice to hear Primitive Notion live though. Hunstman, to claim that techno is not music is a very dated opinion. Did you hear the Chems/Charlatans ep? It doesn't have to have a geetar in it to be music. Out of Control is just Barney adding vocals to a Chemicals track (the sasha mix is the best). Do not expect to see the Order appearing on US television. That humiliating experience is saved for talentless wankers like the Smashing Pumpkins (billy corgan r.i.p. & stay away from neworder you bald/annoying/whiney fuck face) Maybe Barney and Eddie Vedder will team up together and storm American charts with a unique offering Rock my Way.
They were at the aftershow party in Paris, right next to our hotel. But we'd, er, gone on the ales elsewhere in town so missed it! Doh.

I'm possibly going to Heaven next week where their playing an eclectic set-most likely venue that they'd play a new track/ or I'd get a chance to have a word. Otherwise the Together thing looks on the menu for NYE. Depending on whether my birds mates who don't get along with my mates etc.... etc....
Big G The Chemical Toilets aren't that bad... its really the other toss-balls that piss me off.. the millions of re-mixers that take music and knack it up with their bog standard computer gear. Really, I got into New Order because of the synths and how original sounding they were which makes the modern stuff sound so dated... 'techno'?... that went out ages ago for god's sake... I want the next level... which isn't coming is it? - Seems to me all these mixes sound 'exactly' the same and are without any musical credit whatsoever. I want to hear 'music' not a digital bass drum and vocals... it doesn't matter how 'minimal' that music is or what its played on... all I crave is some fucking quality.

Huntsy, check out Royksopp for a modern blend of acoustic and electronic elements. New Order will never be on the next level. They do not make artistic statements anymore, just Rock and Roll. It's a problem, i know, it's been there all along, you see life is strange and life keeps getting stranger every day....oops, wrong channel...You are right about the big remixers making New Order songs boring. Lee Coombs at least kept some elements from Crystal in his mix and thus, his mix is the fans' favorite. If New Order would get with the program and select some forward thinking electronic artists to remix their work we'd all be better off, but they insist on at least 3 different people all doing mixes aimed at the dancefloor. I think the club remixes should be seperate from the cd release of the singles. If you want the club mix, buy the 12", if you want music to listen to, buy the cd single. Royksopp, Weatherall, Rae and Christian, Underworld (in the vein of River of Bass and 8Ball)...these are the names NO need to be consulting for the next remix package. I suspect the way things are going with London, we'll be "treated" to another round of hits/ remixes compilations before we get a decent, official live album.
i agree with you about Royskopp, great album. Weatherall still a sticking point though. I think he's up his own arse and dated to be honest.
Have Underworld done anything since 8 ball - I think they're on the way out unfortunately. get Darren Emerson to remix them though - best jock I've seen for a couple of years - loves Blue Monday as well coincidentally. When people criticise Dj's by saying they are just playing other people music - they should watch this bloke and eat their words - uses the tables as a whole new instrument - much as he did in Underworlds live shows.
I blame Pete Tong for the remix choices though. Just inflicting his own unimaginative choice of progressive trance remixers on the rest of us.
On the other hand, New Order aren't a dance band anymore so why do they insit on dance remixers. If we have to have remixers lets give the tracks to more alternative producers/artists and see what they can do

I am not subjected to the same music hype that you folks get in England so Royksopp are not victims of yesterday's news. Their album is not even released in America yet and their singles are hard to find. Stop buying in to the disposable culture sold to you by the papers and decide for yourself what is quality music. Does it surprise you that the Chemicals next single sounds a bit like New Order? They absolutely love the band and have been greatly influenced by their music. They must have been working on the EP around the same time as their next album so to have some cross over is understandable.
Like for example most people here have never heard of the Strokes even though they're from here, and apparently they're already old for you, putting aside quality questions.
The Strokes are getting a push in Seattle even though their music is garbage. Within half an hour, i could own all their fucking singles and their one pathetic album but try to find a Royksopp 12" in this city and you get funny looks. Apparently, Seattle is in love with RockandRoll and the more kitch/retro a band is, the more they love em here in the Emerald City. The Strokes remind me of the nonsense NewOrder were making fun of in the Crystal Video. How much more can be done with fucking guitars and drums? Rock and Roll is Dead now let it Rest In Peace! (This Means You New Order...Put your "Axe" down and get back to the synthesizers!)
I seem to a recall an interview with Barney and Stephen where they suggested that a New Order EP may be released with 5 or 6 songs as they did not have enough material to start working on a new album yet....
I sure as hell hope a North American tour is in the forecast.
