Asked Pat Nevin for some interesting musical anecdotes to beef up my press release for his forthcoming DJ debut in the pub on Halloween.

He gave me a few crackers. The best?...When he first extended his contract for Chelsea he had it written into his terms that he would be allowed to leave the following week's evening frienly against Brentford at half-time so as he could catch New Order doing a Miners Welfare gig at the Festival Hall. Outstanding cheek.

Also told a story about sinking Manchester City with a late goal, winning Man of The Match and deciding to stay in town to catch a band at the Hacienda. He was a rookie at the time and found himself pissed and skint in Picaddilly Station in the middle of the night sleeping on a bench and waiting for the first train South!

That's where he lives. Four hour round trip to come and see Hooky at Tom Tom the other week. You can't doubt the bloke's passion for the 'Order.

Always a big fan of Nevins, But isnt it a bit sad that everytime you need to think of a footballer who's a bit"indie" or is intelligent enough to like decent music, all roads lead to Pat !! its been a few years, who carrys the torch on ??
