ok so just for fun...

If one were to suppose that perhaps instead of "the Killers" taking their name from the NO Crystal video that in reality the members of NO had decided that they would help to form a new band.

Frustrated by lack of airplay in the states of their new material, NO instead opted to write (or perhaps co-write) music that would be played by youthful americans in order to get their music heard...also it would be a huge joke if "the Killers" actually ever became a success because then NO would be "ghost writing" music for a new generation of listeners.

Consider the fact that the Killers started recording in 2002 (while NO were not recording new music..or not a new album anyway)...and what better place than to have this faux band come from than Las Vegas where everything is made up anyway...ohhhh the irony.

lets just hope they are getting decent royalties from the songs :rofl:

I`ve got The Killers album,its good,but i fail to hear any of the supposed NO influence. As for the video,i never understood why the singer was taking off Ian,not Bernard?

The Killers album is OK up to about track 6 then it tails off into filler material.Those first 5 songs are enjoyable if not very innovative or original.

The singer in the Crystal video is kind of like a Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream) and Ian Curtis hybrid.

Anyway, back to the topic: I would say the band name is interesting, but then again it's kinda generic. I mean, "The Killers"...wow, whole lot of imagination with that one. The one song of theirs I heard is alright, but I wouldn't mistake it as a NO tune. So until Ollie Stone does a movie about it, I don't think there's a conspiracy.

Honestly I don't remember the band's name... but the band released material as a new band of youngsters, just to proove that it's the image that sells, not the music...

In February 2004, this lineup of the Alarm pulled off a masterful hoax on the British music industry by issuing a garagey punk-pop single, "45 RPM," under the fictitious name the Poppy Fields. Peters, having gotten positive feedback on the song, decided to disassociate it from his veteran band to have it judged on its own merits, and recruited a young Welsh group called the Wayriders to lip-sync the song in the video. The so-called Poppy Fields took "45 RPM" into the U.K. Top 30 before the hoax was revealed, setting the stage for the new Alarm's first album together, In the Poppy Fields.
