How are the studio sessions for New Order coming along?

They are going really well. They have done some of the tracks with me and Stephen Street and some by themselves. All-in-all about twenty tracks. What can I say about New Order? They are great. Same as they ever were.

How did you get asked to produce New Order?

They just asked me. They phoned me up and asked me and that was it. I went up to see them at Realworld studios.

20 tracks is nice, but the question is, are they going to release enough singles to put out all 20 songs?

Perhaps it'll be the Order's first venture into double-album "concept" hell, the concept being a combination of Hooky's search for the perfect beard trimmer and Bernard's existential "thirst" for a "beer".

Or maybe not.;)

Maybe the tracks left off the album will be tacked onto ANOTHER greatest hits compilation/box set, and thus NO fans will have to buy it.

Look at how many they did for Get Ready......when you add in all the B-side tracks and Here To Stay, you get up to around 20.

In one of the other interviews not long ago - Barney said they had 20 tracks in the bag, but only lyrics fer 8 of them at the time, no doubt we will see the tracks not used on singles as bonus (b-side) tracks.

Cannae wait and I am a big fan of Leckie.....should be good!

20 tracks could be a double disc set-10 guitar based tracks,10 synth based tracks. Then again,i could be talking out of my arse!

This established producer might kill the sound of New Order. He is old, he worked back in the late 60's. He is an old Rock'n'Roll man, a Pink Floyd buddy. I don't expect anything good. I don't want New Order to sound like the Stone Roses. I regret that Arthur Baker is not in charge anymore. Or Steve Osborn, at least. :smoking:

Anyway, the main thing left is to take that new guitar away from Bernard Sumner. Once it'd be done, the album would be great. Otherwise, it'll be like Twisted Tenderness or Get Ready. :confused2:
