Run Wild vs Someone Like You

These two tracks are so magnificant I can never stop listening to them. They both are sung with so much emotion and heart and the lyrics are nothing short of brilliant. Just wondering out of these two tracks which one do you enjoy listening to more? They are such a contrast in quality to the pile that is Rock the Shit, the one before that, and Behind Closed Doors.

I prefer Someone Like You. The rhythm, the vocals, and the line about paradise make the song for me. Run Wild isn't bad, until the end, where it just falls flat.

For recent songs you could also chuck Player In The League in the mix.

You have an awesome username! The first few verses of Here to Say are infectious!

I like Someone Like You a bit more. I think its cool, catchy, fresh, and different from a lot of the mainstream without being artsy. Run is good too, I never skip it on Technique.

Someone Like You is my preference though.

For the record, yes I know they ARE two diferent kinds of songs(one slow, one fast). But I feel the heart displayed in Barney's voice comes through equally in both. I particularly like the verses in Run Wild a bit more....

Seriously, I think Run Wild is the worst New Order song. I truly have thought that since the day I heard it. I've often claimed it sounded like a John Denver song only a bit more beyond cloud 9. I don't get why it was ever made as a New Order song. To me if New Order covered Slipnot's people=shyt, it would've been more appropriate.

For some weird reason I often skip Someone like you. I mean, it's brilliant and stuff, but it's just I don't like its lyrics much.

Someone Like You should have been an instrumental IMHO. Weakest track on the lp. Vocals too choppy.

run wild is despicable. maybe if we're all around the campfire after kumbaya, but otherwise, no way.

i like someone like you quite a bit, although admittedly not as much as i did when the album first came out.

Well most people consider 60mph to be a good song and a very different song for New Order to play, but still maintaining their signature sound. I guess it isn't for everybody.

As far as Primitive Notion, I don't think New Order has never played it live even. There must be something about that song the group doesn't like. A lot of magazines, and news reviews said Primitive Notion was arguably the best song on the album. Maybe one of the experts here on NOOL can give more detail. Close Range though, I don't know. Someone Like You is a pretty good song but yeah, Close Range would have made a solid single.

I've never liked either of them that much. As Jehovah is my witness, I personally don't mind NO's lyrical cliches at all, but "Run Wild" is pretty much borderline annoying for me in those terms; add the strings and the female vocals to the mix and I rather start thinking of the song as slightly tongue-in-cheek.

Yeah, I guess I prefer "SLY" to it, ever so slightly. ;)

Personally I LOVE 'Run Wild' I feel its an honest song about love for your children (AFAIK its about 1 of barneys kids, who has also been sick - but im open to info on this)

As for Someone like you, Im with Spotnick on that - the chorus is fairly sh1te & brings the song down (no problem with the backing vocals tho!)

Might be on my own but i find Run Wild lacklustre compared to the rest of the album. After the way it was arse kissed so much by thst guy in the retro book, i just ignore the track.

Actually, i just went and listened to it, and dont see the point of the harmonica and strings.

Someone like you is one of the highlights of get ready for me. Like Primitive Notion, Crystal and Close Range, the energy and passion are in that song, the ingredients that make New Order the band they are, and the reason why said album is so great. Run Wild is a move away from that, and i dont think that its a particularly good move.

Run Wild's not my cuppa at all. I would definitely go for Someone Like You out of these twoXxxx
