Will you download on the internet New Order's upcoming album prior to its release?

It seems common knowledge that promo copies are used to dispatch new material over the internet... for example, U2's new album is already available everywhere, but it won't be released for 2 weeks!

So, if the new album is going to be released in February and promo copies go out on January, and you happen to see a mp3 copy of the album somewhere on the net....

Will you check it out or not? Be honest...! Sure, we'll all buy it, but will you wait for the real thing or not :D

But the real thing is so much better. However, the chance to hear it ASAP makes me want to DL it. I will not go out of my way to search for it but if I stumble upon it

I have always resented the fact that people from the press receive promo copies of albums well in advance of the street date (and then subsequently sell them on at inflated prices)... so hell yeah, I will surely download it as soon as I see it.

Wouldn't think twice. Download straight away.

Absolutely, but I'll be first in line at the record shop to buy it on day one! :)

I had Interpol's "Antics" three months before official release. Didn't stop me hurrying excitedly into HMV to buy the real thing.

I'd do exactly the same for New Order.

So, who's the one person - thus far - who's voted 'No'?!

Well i have bought PROMO's of stuff like ELECTRONIC's Get the Message which they DID NOT release. But these days i don't have the same CONTACTS so i will have to use that TINTERNET thing. Will then limit myself to 3 versions of the CD,but possibly buy the VINYL this time.I NEVER bought the VINYL GET READY!(times where hard) but this time i am WORKING.Is it OK to buy PROMOS or is it AGINST THE LAW? I FOUGHT THE LAW AND THE LAW WON Rocket Mick

I did it with Get Ready and regretted it. This time I won't listen to any song of the new album before I buy it and find some time to play it on a decent stereo. You only have one chance to make a good first impression. This is true for music as well. Don't wanna spoil the pleasure of the first listening. :nono:

I thought no at first... but if its the same guitar-ish crap that was on Get Ready I might like to hear it first. Seriously... I won't be buying it if it's no better than Get Ready. :nonono:

well tbh it looks to me that the album has been brought forward a tad because of the d/loadind ect. u2s album has been floating around for about 4-5 months as it was nicked apparently,or was it eh?. nice little ploy to get feedback from fans?,dunno could have been though, film companies are known culprits of this tactic to gauge popularity and comments on various aspects of a film. will i download it? YEP,will i upload it to any p2p network? NOPE,will i buy it? only if its any good.

Of course I'll download it early. But I will also be first in line to buy it. :)

...not the *whole* album.. But a few sample slices..

I might download the single. As for the rest of the album, I can wait until it is released. I will buy the single too if it isnt too pricey.

Ill defo be looking for it,BearShare is the best bet-itll be there an hour after the promos are released. But like everyone else said,i wont feel guilty cos ill be buying all the singles, the album, and anything else they release.

Same here. Buying it after you've downloaded makes it okay, doesn't it?

Cannot get into downloading music, too fcuking old for a start. But I would buy anything with the words Order and New

Voted NO, but that's cause it was worded "Will you..." rather than "Would you......" Found the U2 album by accident last week, on a thread that lasted about an hour on a music biz board, I didn't go looking for it. IF I come across it that way (I'm not going out of my way to look for it......), then the answer would be yes, and then I would buy it upon its release at the first opportunity to do so.

no. BECAUSE I HAVE LINUX NOW AND I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW IT FECKING WORKS EXCEPT TO SURF THE NET AND CHECK E-MAIL not that i'm bitter or angry at all or anything.

NO. I have waited too long. Just a week or a few won't change anything. And doing it that way I'll double my pleasure (hopefully!) of listening to the new CD.:thumb:

As a matter of fact, first, I'd prefer to buy a single. But American versions are realeased far later than the UK ones (which are not to find easy here). Of course, I can order the single from the English Amazon, but by the time it'd come to me, the LP would come out, too.

Anyway, I'll buy everything that New Order will release.:love2:

my two cents says the only way to make it work is release the mp3 at vendors online first

I wouldn't be downloading anything more than a couple of songs in advance, maybe. I cherish the thought of fans all over the world buying it at the same moment, then putting it to their cd players and blasting it away for the first time. It's like you were a part of some secret society.

Nope...didn't d/l anything from Get Ready before the albume was released, and won't d/l anything from the new album prior to it's release...

Which is odd...since I have no qualms about downloading music from other artists before I purchase their stuff?!?!?!

Can't be bothered with mp3s (except as a last resort for stuff one can't find anywhere else), as all this high tech stuff makes me feel old.

MLDonkey - works on Linux. Bit hard to get used to the whole using-your-browser-as-the-client thingy, but once it works its damn fast and as it connects to every network in existance, you can find anything.

If you can't figure out how to use MLDonkey, go back to Windows

Let's hope this time they won't release it 5 months later in North America....

Bah! I'll order it on the net if that happens.

bah, i might be making a tit of myself on this one,but its possible that at least one track has hit the p2p networks already. a track called "shadow gallery"?,now i have never heard of a new order track by that name but some of you may have in which case i apologise in advance. and i wouldnt be suprised if it turns out to be shadowplay cos misnaming of tracks on p2p networks is rife,im currently cued up to d/load the track so it may be a while before i get it but ill keep you updated either way.:thumb:

I said NO, but if I happen to find it somewhere in January the excitement will probably push me over the edge - so ill have to download it:ignore: . . . But, like the rest of you, i'll buy it day of release as well.

The single, maybe; the whole album, no. I'm not one for d/l'ing entire albums, even if I'm going to buy them anyway. It just doesn't feel right somehow and it spoils the surprise IMO.

i have no idea what this means.

we only have it because my roommate's father downloaded it onto her computer because he doesn't have a copy of windows to put on it, and neither of us can shell out the money for a legal copy of the thing! :(

it's okay to download it. but you have to go and buy it. i think every NO fan is going to buy the album and of course the 1st single.

i bought many albums after i download it before. interpol or the killers actually.if it's great music i have no problem to buy it. all the other stuff will be deleted from my harddisk...

and the fact that is new material from NO available and i have the chance to listen to it...

have no need to download the new album illegally, will get a promo copy via a friend @ london as soon as promo copies are available!

would possibly have a look at the p2p to see if theres any difference tho! regards

Problem with that is that it removes sales from the North American releases... so the idiots wonder why the album didn't sell well, it's because the fan base bought the import!

I'll download and buy the Britsh or american version.

Definately wait till it comes out...I know it'll be torture, but hearing it fresh and in it's entirety (sic) with the best possible quality will be the only way.

I may even stay away from this board to get a fresh, unbiased opinion of it...

Nah, probably not :p

i'm now back to the land of microsoft (which i understand), so i'll most likely download it.

Yup, I'd download everything, but I'd be waiting outside the record store to buy the official release on the Monday...

When 'Get Ready' was about to be released, I got a promo copy of the full album around 3 weeks in advance, but I still bought it on release date.

I'm sure that 99% of people here who would download previews would buy the official release, just to be able to have the 'Real Thing' (no, not Gwen...) in their sweaty little mitts - buy the album, go to the pub, peel off the stickers, read the inlay, have more beer, etc... Oh, and listen to the CD/vinyl when you get home, trying not to lose the new purchase on the bus in a drunken stupor.

If I see it online, I'll get it, but I will for sure buy it:thumb:
