Pardon if this was covered last year, if so, I totally missed it. Anyway, saw a 12" EP at my favourite record store tonight by a group called Jah Division, and the item was released last year apparently. Didn't know what to think of it in the store, they misspelled the word "psychedelic" on the label of the die-cut sleeve.

Just wondered if anyone else had known about them, they're outta Brooklyn apparently. The idea of dub versions of Joy Division songs sounds like it could produce some interesting results, as on Heart And Soul.

That sounds bizarre. Almost as bizarre as this song, but an R&B, jazz-ish kind of group covering a Tool song on a tribute album I was reviewing. The album really wasn't that good.

Aren't they from Russia? Coz someone corrected the word "Joy Division" on my wall to "Jah Division" back in 1999 :)

Nah, the link in the first post says they've nothing to do with the Russian band. That one, of course, came up when I googled Jah Division after I got home last night.

Bought the EP today, four songs on it, dub versions of Transmission, Heart And Soul, Disorder, and LWTUA. Not as really dubbed out like yer average Mad Professor or Scratch Perry production, I always love the way the familiar bits of a song get distorted and changed in good dub. Transmission and Disorder really sound good this way, Heart And Soul is a bit lackluster, and LWTUA could've used a melodica, just like Augustus Pablo, not too bad on that one though. Nice quality vinyl used for the pressing as well. Overall, I give it a 7 out of 10.
