How about these, they were great then, and no auto cue

  1. Tower Ballroom 83 - incl LWTUA
  2. Woolwich Coronet 87 - incl ATMOSPHERE and DO THE OSTRICH
  3. Royal Festival Hall 84 - incl HURT and DECADES

Als those days are gone.

Bring the Pernod and Holsten Pils back Barney

You old cunt:lol:

My first would have to be Birmingham NEC 26-3-89, cos it was my first ever gig thanks to John and Lorraine:)

Second I will opt for Reading 98 - mainly cos we had a cracking day getting pissed at the beer tent all day in the sun.

Lastly would have to be the "comeback" gig at Liverpool, great seeing the 5 new songs debuted.

The Ally Pally Hogmany gig narrowly misses out.

hmmm...well...I don't have as many to choose from...so...

  1. Houston, TX 1989 (First time)
  2. Dallas, TX 1993 (actually got to gawk at Hooky the day before, and lit his fag!)
  3. Finsbury Park, 2002 (meeting up with a few of the NOOLers)

Sorry it's not an impressive top 3...but I've only done 6 gigs...

and yet another owd git steps forward,

tatton comunity centre -- chorley-- 80/81 was determined to go this one cos i missed jd at the wharehouse in preston.

hacienda --83--may i think?? they opened with your silent face and it wasnt the slow meandering thing weve got now either it was upbeat and by far the best ive ever heard it. (anyone got a tape)?.

preston guildhall -- 85 -- not the best gig they ever done ,but it was worth it to see the new order barmy army in full flight.

Good question!

  1. Portsmouth Guildhall 26/8/84 - blistering hot, several dates close together, this was the best performance of the tour to me.

  2. Move, Old Trafford 13/7/02 - the most recent in the memory I know, but it was a special event and they were on top form. There was something poignant about seeing them playing such a massive hometown show.

  3. Birmingham Tower Ballroom 2/10/86 - fantastic set, well played, great atmosphere. Just a memorable night.

I am but a humble youngster so;

Paris 87 - because it was my first one.

Birm,NEC 89 - The Technique vibe. I wish I could say it was the previous nights gig in glasgow which was my first scottish gig, but I can't because this one was much better.

Liverpool, OLympia 01 - A great atmosphere at the gig, and the whole build-up during the day really.

As they were much more prolific back in the day, you older (wiser!) guys must have felt the pain of the lulls much more...?

Mine are old too, mainly coz I haven't seen them since 1985:

  1. Festival Hall 5/84 - Decades / Cock
  2. Brixton Academy 12/83 - 1st time I saw them
  3. Finsbury Sobell 1/85

Those were the days.

:cry::cry: I only got to see them once: their final show of 1985 at the Manhattan in Leuven. Barney at his abusive best, with lots of extra guitar riffing throughout the gig. Hooky was great, too, giving a punter who tried to climb onto the stage a taste of his boot :D

After that, they never hit these shores again 'cause they wanted to be really big in America... disco poofters!

Only seen 'em twice, but what the hey, here goes.....

  1. Oakland 85. Laid back audience, annoyed band, love the angry version of Ceremony and the encore of Sister Ray. "You probably don't deserve this......" Hey, Barney, at least I did that night.............

  2. Portland 89. Solid show, with no mistakes, breakdowns or fuckups.

  3. Should've been there for Berekley 87, but alas was not......:(

Only seen em 3 times,

  1. Edinburgh Feb 1985 - first time, great gig, played lets go. Bloody freezing!

  2. Edinburgh Sep 86 - very lacklustre, crowd were lifeless - high point - angel dust.

  3. Glasgow June 87 - Brilliant gig, great atmosphere.

Most memorable , though not really for the setlists or lack of autocues etc , other gigs may have been better musicaly ;nonetheless mine at the moment are :

The M.E.N Arena , watched from the McConnell suite , first time Irene had watched her lad play with the Order and she did so from the comfort of a black leather chesterfield with Auntie Jean ,absolutely ranks as one of the best nights I've had , topped by the fact that by nights end me and our kid had been left in charge of the suite and it's bar tab ... live the rockstar life for a night ? too feckin right .

The festival of the 10th summer , another great day /night out , I often get this blurred with another order gig ;but this WAS the one where Ian Mac turned up .... wasn't it ? And the Worst were class :thumb:

The Olympia gig , the first 10 minutes took 15 years off me life , unfortunately the next 5 added twice that , I lost me footin in the crowd stage right and went under .. once upon a time this was 'fun' , on the night though I realised it was time to stand a bit further back , and now little Garymac prefers next to the mixing desk , still stage right though . Old ? Feck no , makin room fer wee shuglet and the next-generation:shrug:

And if a fourth is allowed ta sneak in , Glasto in 87 .

Just the three this time, Mike, you asked for TEN a while back - be buggered if I can find the link though cos Search don't seem to work on these forums for me whatsoever?

  1. Olympia 18.07.2001. Great comeback gig on the doorstep. Knocked off at work 4pm, boozed right through. The worst drunk at a gig ever. Couldn't walk the next day, back had gone.

  2. Gmex 1988. Had shitty seats but the set made up for it. Good support from Mondays & Acr.

  3. 01.03.86 Spectrum Arena. My second gig. Saw them the previous month and although it was a good atmosphere this set had an edge to it. Excellent version of Sunrise. Many a punch up at the front 'an all.

Easy! I've only been to three!!

Mountain View, CA - 1989 Fuji Fest in Naeba, Japan - 2001 Mountain View, CA - 2001 (Area:One)

Due to excessive indulgence beforehand, even though I know I had a good time all all shows since, Reading '98 is the last one I remember with any real clarity, so that's my fave.

It was wonderful, mind, even if various recordings reveal that their playing wasn't as pristine as I'd initially thought!

Al, correct I did ask for 10 the previous time. Just trying to breath life into the sute this time round.

Also to the people who mentioned Glasto 87, that was a great gig, remember Barney going ape at the end.

Sorry APE was not intended for Dwight Yorke

Apollo98 - My first Order gig. Went round town having a few beers with one my mates from work who was going too. Ended up on the front row between Hooky & Barney. Got crushed to f*ck but was well worth it. Especially for LWTUA...

Reading98 - Spent the day in the company of a cracking girl, drinking cans of beer in the sun, watched Monaco, she bought me "a means to an END" and then we waited for Garbage:evil4:

MOVE2002 - A group of about a dozen of us from Salford & Macc met up in Chorlton for the lazy meander into OT, stopping off to rest on the grass outside the Quadrant, & on to watch the Order deliver a cracking set. Nearly got into a fight over one of Hooky's drumsticks until after BM until I realised how pathetic it was & gave it to this girl next to me that I'd never met. My mate bust his shades "breakdancing" at a very drunken 45. :nonono::laugh:
