I've ran across that same site, got a listen to LWTUA (there aren't too many good live recordings of that, and Finsbury park isn't any good either), but it seems fairly decent overall....

No problem Marco... I found this site by chance, I mean, by complete fluke. I was actually doing a search for me Mum's christmas present and up comes 'Joy Division' which had nothing to do with what I was looking for... now what are the chances of that eh? (about 5 to 1 probably).

Anyway as soon as I saw they were MP3's I legged it to the OrderLine to post the good news. Best to be burning before the site vanished eh!?... I'll have to look into some archives to dig info. on this gig, well, that is, after I've wrote my own CDR for me bomber to listen to tomorrow!!!

What's the quality like, Huntsman? I'm stuck with 44k bandwidth on my modem, so I don't want to spend 20 minutes download per track if it has the acoustic qualities of a metal bucket.

I'd be very surprised if the first song is "Exercise One" (haven't downloaded it yet) seeing as they didn't play it that night ! They opened with "Sound of Music" if memory serves me correctly (tape's back home 150 miles away). Last song of 8 was "Atrocity Exhibition", which isn't on this recording.

Thing is, given that its 22 years old and some little quick thinking trailblazer with a portable stereogram down the front of his flairs taped it for us all to enjoy half a century later, well, download for that reason alone. If you want to hear Stevey's drumkit of the time which sounds to me like he stole his mothers biscuit barrel for the night, Ian's (god rest his soul) Curtains' vocals rammed through an old space effect delay pedal that repeats his lyrics until New Dawn Fadesx50, a combination of dirty guitars vs. the sonic range only a rat can determine at a distance of 97 miles east, and a shit load of 70's memorabilia to boot.... well TrueBlue, who could resist?

Me says download 'Love will Tear us a New Arse Hole Apart 'first for sheer nostalgia then consider whether its worth blowing £60 of next months phone bill for the rest of the gig... I think you know the answer, if you do... let us know.

This was the gig referred to in that "Ideal For Living" book as being the one where the Buzzcocks deliberately sabotaged the sound as JD were blowing them off stage every night.

Just downloaded it - first song is "Sound of Music" not "Exercise One" for all of you out there who thought we were onto a real rarity ! The only Ex.1 live version you can get is on the Nashville Rooms 22/9/79 tape.

A good spot indeed sir. Sound is marginally better than the tape I've had for 21 years !!
