what is the best cover for a NO single or album? We may like the music - but what about the aesthetic pleasure of the covers?

For me the best artwork will always be the True Faith 12". The blue background with the orange leaf (it is orange right?) looks amazing. Simple genius.

Yep I like the True Faith cover as well - I'd say it was a gold leaf though Stevie boy:nod: Thieves cover is brilliant as well!!

Well...I was attracted to NO via album covers...Lowlife actually, that delicious tracing paper wrapping.....Of course then I discovered the music in it..( Even though I've heard Blue Monday couple of years before and thought they may be one hit wonder !! ) I also like Brotherhood metallic stuff, True Faith leaf, Touched God shell, didn't like that beach scene on Republic and World in Motion Soccer cover.... Get Ready's Coco is cool and different....

As far as singles: Theives Like Us

As far as Albums: Power, Corruption & Lies

As far as best album cover of their careers: Closer

I'd say 'Murder' and the multicoloured 'True Faith'. :)

I was pretty close with orange. As long as my ears work fine and i can listen to it who cares if i can't see the sleeve right!

Thats My fave as well. Quite like the cheekiness of Fine Times cover. Regret and World singles I like as well. The new stuffs also pretty good.

Apart from the blue and orange :D True Faith cover I really like the Low-life art work; especially the back, where it has the picture of Gillian. That's simply a beautiful picture.

Overall, the 1981-82 ep just kicks butt, but I also like Brotherhood and PCL. Blue Monday I've only seen on TV shows when they mention NO, but I like it all the same. Procession's artwork is an underappreciated gem, and TBTHOG and True Faith are actually in my vinyl collection. As far as JD, you can't do any finer than Transmission or the 7 and 12 inch LWTUA

I am fond of the 81-82 ep as well as the Technique cover...

Gillian looks really good in that pic on Low Life...I didn't know that she got "gothed" out once in a while... ;)

PCL is still one of the best - but I do think the GR photo sets are pretty interesting.

Republic and the attached singles look great to me, especially Ruined In A Day. :smoking:

So why does no one mention PCL? The Cd cover is even better then the vinyl one, cause you can fold it out. Beautiful flowers. And i've always been very impressed by the Closer cover.

Muffy, I too like the Republic art, and I was just admiring the Ruined in a Day cover this past weekend. Huntsy will probably despise us for these comments.

I only bought ruined... for the sleeve the song and the mixes are rank,I always wanted to be a surf bum as well.

True Faith original sleeve. Blue Monday, the original. By JD, Atmosphere. Ugliest NO-related cover must be Electronic's Raise The pressure...

Oh dear, yet another area where the Hunts and I don't see eye to eye. You know Pats, i'm really wondering if Huntsy's not my estranged bitch, back to haunt me on this here escape module, we disagree so often!

Isn't this question in our profile? My favorite is Shellshock followed closely by Temptation. Least favorite - all Republic related artwork.

Brian are you trying to wind up Patsy & The Muffster by any chance?

not this time, though in the past, i've been known to stir it up a bit. just my opinion. i have the shellshock 12" framed behind my turntables. everytime i see rain on a windshield i see the Temptation sleeve and that is a beautiful thing. I prefer my artwork a little abstract the same way i prefer barney's lyrics when they're not so obvious and ordinary. The photo's from the Republic series were not art in my opinion, just photos with type. Spooky is cool. I do wear my Ruined in A Day t-shirt so often, my girlfriend threatens to hide it.
