Well, Muff-man, I don't want to put words in Huntsy's mouth; I just thought I recalled him saying he didn't care very much for the Republic-related art.

I think for me at least the thing is I don't own any vinyl, and most of the art most people like was created for vinyl. The Republic art, in contrast, was pretty clearly done with CD's in mind.

Was this a new strategy? I think the Cds looked great - but did anyone buy them who had never heard of the order? The first LP I bought was PCL and strangely enough when I picked it out of the record shop I was only 13 but knew straight away it was New Order - thanks to seeing previous records from my uncle, I still think that's fucking amazing though!!

For an album, I liked the titaanzink-like cover of Brotherhood (though I first got it on tape!)

My fave 12" sleeve has to be Blue Monday, because of the (basic) IT related design...

agreed on the Blue Monday cover...how could I forget about it looking like the old floppies??? Must stay away from beer....

Wow - digging up this old thread is like unearthing the elgin marbles for the first time! Favourite New Order album /single covers - one problem - there's just too darn many to choose from!!

I'd nominate a few, can't settle on the one, so it will have to be :

albums - LowLife, Technique (very arty!), Power C&L, 1981-82 Factus 8 singles - Temptation 12", Murder (I think this is more striking than Thieve Like Us), True Faith, Fine Time, Run2, World in Motion (both versions - the footie theme looks cool if I may say so).

PCL, closely followed by Ceremony 12" Blue & White.

I like almost all New Order artwork. I'm astonished nobody mentioned the artwork for Love Will Terrace Apart.

Could it be because it's not actually by New Order, perchance??!! :D
