Same topic, but a little more focused: What songs best express the bitterness that usually accompanies a breakup? Here's my list: 1.One-U2 (this one seems like it could have been about my last serious relationship) 2.LWTUA (not raucous bitterness per se, but a bit more heartbroken) 3.Letdown-Radiohead 4.Age of Consent 5.I Don't Want to Spoil The Party-The Beatles (underrated gem from the Beatles for Sale akbum) 6.I Can See For Miles-The Who 7.No Feelings-Sex Pistols 8.Driftwood-Travis (like LWTUA, a bit more subtle) 9.O Girlfriend-Weezer 10.The Last Dance-The Cure 11.Wounded Horse-XTC

there are lots of spiteful bitter/impending break-up/rejection songs on the beatles "rubber soul". think "im looking through you", "norweigan wood", "you won`t see me", "think for yourself", "run for your life"...
anything by radiohead and most manics stuff particularly the holy bible if you want to be depressed quietly; sex pistols' never mind the bollocks is always good if you want to shout/ cause damage.
The whole second half of Blonde on Blonde seems to be a mix between angry and sad love songs. I have to say that's the must-have Dylan album if you're going to get just one.
I'm So Tired, Helter Skelter, and Happiness is a Warm Gun are particular favorites of mine to put on if I've just been dumped. Never Mind the Bollocks is an excellant angry album to play as well
Take a trip back in time if you will, to this thread...

Getting Away With It always pops into my head in bittersweet love situations...
However I look it's clear to see, I love you more than you love me
