BTW, I'm sorry it took so long for me to post the info, I got the email from Warner France this morning, didn't notice it until 12 hours later :embarassed:

This is the release date for FRANCE, so there is a possibility it will be released earlier in the UK, who knows... but usually I guess they keep the same date for Europe isn't it?

Is March 28th a monday ?

If so, it makes sense.

And it means the album would be released in North America on March 29th.

I don't normally go to the home page so this news came as a pleasant surprise. Nice to have an official release date. New single in the New Year, album to follow, and a few gigs in the pipeline hopefully. Roll on 2005. :thumb:

we waited more than 3 years, we surely can wait a couple of months, can´t we?

No doubt it will appear on every peer to peer site by the end of January with different song titles etc.

Hopefully they will put some video on the proper disc so that people don't just get the blag copies.

Hurrah, it is great to have a date to count down to now!

Will that mean summer tour dates, or is it too late for that?

That's great news!!! It's getting close!

Now only let's hope that a single will be released...uhm...before Xmas??? :confused2:

Someone seriously needs to tell them not to use the word "sugarcane" any where near the new album!! Damn, what a shitty name for a song or album.

New Order is my life. Thank you.

Tremendous news! :thumb:

Although, it does look like I'll have the new album to soundtrack my honours degree finals  Misery, work, exams, Barney's lyrics, misery, and more exams, hehe. There should be some track names filtering out soon? Hopefully the singles will be a good mix of remixes and bsides as Get Ready's were (the most b-sided NO album is Get Ready after all)

Please no Rock The Shacks, or Slow Jams this time eh? *fingers crossed*

Ally.

Woohoo!! Can't wait until March, maybe longer for us folks in USA. Hope it's better than "Get Ready" and wishing it great market success and satisfying all the fans at the same time.

Excellent news! Yet another addition to my already-way-too-long CD wants list. Better start saving now, methinks!

Well they did say they would release on my birthday so 28th ain't too far from THE 25 MARCH.I read this on WORLD IN MOTION yesterday but NO ONE had mentioned this so did not want to build my hopes up.It will be called ROCKET-OUT OF THIS WORLD. Cool.

Get Ready has been released on August 27th 2001 in the UK

Get Ready has been released on October 16th 2001 in the US

Just after the 9-11 events...

So my 6 months were a little too much, I have no idea why I was sure Get Ready was released in may in the UK...

Cheers Nicos - that is great news !!!

Don't worry about the rubbish seasons gag - you can be forgiven for being a bit giddy today.

A new Neworder album in May 2005 - fantastic :evil4:

I just wrote "Whoop!" on the proper day of the 2005 calendar. Hopefully they keep moving in the Here to Stay direction---then back into sequencerland!

Re US release date - can't we in the States just pre-order the album from amazon.co.uk and have them ship here?

SWEET!!!!! I hope they tour close to me again! It's been a long time! (August '01) :thumb:

Well, technically yes you can do that, but by doing that, you're not helping the US sale figures, hence won't help to have more New Order related releases in the US... it's a vicious circle...

Yep, just like I got "Get Ready" in Russia three weeks before the English release :D I couldn't believe it. Well I had to buy it... what else to do, ha :)

And I got the "24 Hour Party People" DVD a bit later after it came out in English cinemas :love2:

Can't wait... I'm sure everyone has been posting about the posibility of a U.S. tour so, I'm just goign to sit back patiently and wait. Love this site...Hell... Love New Order and Joy Division.

Question: I'm really not a big Gwen Steffani fan but I heard she covered a New Order song. Which one did she cover?
Thanks

I wonder if G. Gilbert will play on this new release.

She didn't cover any New Order song, it's Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook who collaborated with her on the track The Real Thing on her solo debut album...

I've already booked a couple of tickets for the New Order gig next year:)

The only problem is that is in my head, I have no idea where and if they are touring anywhere. I assume they will play Manchester but if they don't I am willing to travel anywhere in the UK and possibly Europe.

I've been waiting to see New Order live for ages now.

By the way, while driving this afternoon I heard about the release of New Order's new album on the local radio ( ). That's right, Energie 94.3 FM said it would be released in FEBRUARY and that the name of the album would be... Sugarcane!!! Mouhahahaha...

It's funny how a dumb rumor can gain authenticity when spreaded by a "serious" media.

Barney & the JD's Black September Witch Doctors of Zimbabwe....to name a few...

Hahaha good one. I noticed your I think they call it a tag, was the cover to Blue Mon. I had a question about that record a friend of mine keeps arguing with me.

  1. was it and still is the Number #1 selling 12" single in the UK?

  2. The producer Quincy Jones is the QJ that produced Michael Jackson's Thriller?

  3. Also the inner album sleeve is white (special kind of paper real slick like.) Did it ever come in Black?

Thanks for answering a newbies question.

P.s. I hope my tag aka David Carruso doesn't offend anyone.

The key question, is when will it be released in Japan. They usually get an extra track and a lyric sheet!

Take your time machine back to 1993, you said to me the new New Order album was called "Everyone Everywhere".... ended up to be the name of a song on the album, same thing here!

However, I read back my own news about the Sugarcane thing, and it wasn't too clear.. I can't believe I might have started a worldwide rumour

Yes, but unofficial lyrics with very funny mistakes most of the time.

2.Yes

  1. Though QJ didn't produce/remix BM83, which I pressume is the version discussed. QJ is responsible for BM88 though...

  2. And yellow for the IT release, through it may not have been die-cut. Also, the inner part is silver on non-die-cut sleeves, but I can't remember if there ever was a silver inner sleeve.

A little BM history at the New Order Discography.

It was "Stevie and the JDs", a name by which Wilson had introduced them at the 3rd night at the Moonlight Club in April 1980. I've never heard the "Black September" one before, I must admit.

Can't help you with the US tour question but as far as I know, Gillian did take a break from this CD as well. It's looking doubtful that she's coming back; she's decided to put her family first. BTW, ignore the "stereotypical North American's first post" comments; some of the people here have a slightly weird sense of humour sometimes.

How is it weird? 50% of all Americans who come on here ask when they're touring as their first post, most of them never to return again...

I agree with this idea! I know it's New Order, but Nick, make a littly magic here... even if on March 28th whatsoever there'll be no release, the counter would count positively... hm... I got confused... Well you're the master :)

Sunshine Valley Dance- Wasn't that another name they were going to use after Ian died?

Also, I could be wrong- but wasn't their first gig as New Order in September , 1980 at Maxwells in Hoboken, New Jersey?

Kind of ironic , since they haven't played on the East Coast in the U.S. in 11 years.

And the other 50% of all non-Americans wait for someone to ask when the next NO tour is, just so they can correct them.

Can't help it if some peeps never seen NO live.

I still say Temptation is the best NO song. and Radio Transmission best JD song.

Well a source previously close to the band (whose name escapes me at present, whoops) assured us all that the name New Order had been decided long before the debut appearance at the Beach Club in the Arndale.

.....bit slow reacting to this news but i've been ill. A lot may happen between now and then but at least there's something to look forward to.

March 28th eh? Even though that's only a few months off, it can't come any sooner! Really curious as what the sound will be like, i.e., Get Ready-ish? At this point, I won't be picky (I say this now...)! Can't wait for the single though.

I've read that it's going to be closer to the sound of Technique.

why, why, why would warners wait 6 months to release Get Ready? It makes no sense from a marketing perspective, they should release it at the same time as everywhere else so they can take advantage of the publicity.

I hope they don't do the same thing with the new album.

And I pray to god they don't call the album 'Sugarcane'...

Sugarcane is one of our major crops here, doubtful title, however their trend of titles [album] shows one word titles,it might be a work in progress and pretty fluid.I'd really hate to be under that kind of pressure, even with a fan base that will buy it no matter what,to the general public it could make it or break it.:confused2:
