The question is... in 2004, where in the world can New Order attract 5000 fans by themselves.
Answer that, and you might have the upcoming tour list.
Apparently, no promoter took a chance on them the last time, as only Moby managed to book them in his Area:One tour in North America.
Without adequate promotion, and AIRPLAY, I seriously doubt New Order could attrack 5000 people in my hometown, for some reason, only one of the mainstream radios decided to play Crystal, and it's the english one (and english speaking people represent maybe 1/8 of the resident of Montréal)
I believe a place like New York wouldn't have any problem and LA probably, but I believe the best way if New Order wanted to do a world tour would be to use the "80 act" thing, and pair with another band that "used to be succesful"... and I don't like that! (Plus, I doubt Bernard wants to do it!)
If they DON'T plan to cross the pound and do a show in North America, I believe all fans should wake up together and do our own show, many people here are willing to pay to go to England see them, I'm convinced it would cost less to bring THEM here for our own private show than the opposite... Can't be that difficult to do, is it?

They could attrack only 2 people here. My Brother and me. Sad BUTT true. 
well, i can say here in Argentina they could play in front of a 10,000 (at least) audience. Chryssie Hynde, Morrissey and Living Colour did that this year so why not them? although i think the best chance for us is if they come as part of a festival. as Primal Scream, Pet Shop Boys, Morrissey, Blondie and others did. they have everything to come and play next year. if they don´t it´s because they don´t want to.
I might be getting too old, but I don't want to see them in a festival....
I want a full set, and real fans in the place.
P/S: Alejo, the sad news is, 10 000 in Argentina is like 1000 in the US :(
i would like to see new order come and play in the middle of rockingham speedway,corby,northants, the good thing is that it's only ten minutes from mine and shugzv's house,a great venue but i cant see it happening,wishfull thinking!!

I somehow doubt that was due to a lack of offers on the table...or are you saying they accept anything offered to them? The 2001-2 gigs were marked by the lack of anything except festival dates, at least outside the UK, and for their attributed faults, both Moby and Billy Corgan are fans, and probably felt privileged at being able to work with them.

Even if that is true, what's the problem? At $30 US (or even more) that should clear 150k (or more) per night.

That'll fill up amphitheatres...and likely shatter New Order's reputation in the UK, since as best I've been able to figure out, DM are viewed as a bit of an embarrassment over there, even before Gahan's dalliance with speedballs...I think the other DM would label the boys from Basildon a bunch of nancies.

Actually, these days, who knows what could happen, assuming that some of the same organizational talets that made _Community_ a reality could apply putting on a live show. But we're seriously talking about a six-figure sum.
I'd be the first one there if/when it happens.

Maybe you were right Sam, but I still can't explain to myself why they didn't do the eastern leg of Area:One then... I'm still a littled pissed I missed them because I was sure they'd tour here...

Well, Depeche Mode can still fill arenas alone in here.. so I seriously don't see them doing so. Although I must admit I would soooooooo love that.

I definitely agree with that. I'd drive from Raleigh to Atlanta to see NO! If they did a show in Atlanta and a show in DC or New York, that would cover the entire east coast.

Depends on how many dates they are doing on the tour (if indeed there is a tour). Having never seen them in the States, I will definitely be doing so if they play the States at all with this album. My thinking is that I would probably struggle to get the time off work to do a full tour (and it may cost a few bob as well unless they need a roadie!), so I would probably only be able to do certain dates (and could convince the missus that a shopping trip to New York was in order). Nothing against Dallas, but JR Ewing isn't as big a draw these days as he used to be.

Agree with the East Coast thing. A jaunt to Boston and Noo Yoik would be just the ticket. Alternatively, a few dates in Florida like 89 could be a right result! The latter won't happen though. Anywhere that gigs are grouped together would be best really - perhaps West Coast again, concentrating on California??
Yeah, I'm up for East or West Coast (or any group of gigs close together, as you say). Wish the buggers would announce something soon, else I'll end up spending the saved money on a kitchen or something!

myself and another dude ... i actually did my undergrad in beantown, so i would love to have another excuse to go back north to see a show
I bet they read this forum and will figure out a way to play in every fans hometown, a 2 hour set with 10 JD songs. And since us Americans are always selfishly complaining, they will come here first. Probably even play each US city twice.
Surely they will choose a Saturday in Atlanta. I bet they are right this second sitting down together and orchestrating it all. "hmmm... maybe we should play Atlanta three times, three Saturdays in a row in May. All those 18 year old US college kids into Usher will surely come... "
Ideally they will play only Saturday nights in every major city of the US.

I reckon they do not even leave the UK. Probably play a couple UK festivals after the mandatory Manchester warmup gig or two and then put out a dvd (titled '108') and get back to their families by September for the holidays.
Release 12 cd single remixes in 2005. Each one with 90% regurgitated content as the others that true fans buy 10 copies each of (for 2008 resale on ebay).
Then do a couple oh so exciting dj gigs in the UK and Miami in 2006. woohoo.
Then put out another lp in 2009 that we all anxiously await.

In any case, if they do tour North America, here are the places they couldn't avoid in a normal tour:
Montreal ;) Toronto Boston New York Washington D.C./Baltimore Atlanta Miami Chicago Detroit Dallas Los Angeles San Francisco
...that makes 12 dates. And in order to go up to 15, you can surely add to these dates Seattle, and maybe Denver and one of Cleveland or Colombus.
This way, they would cover a lot of ground without doing a "hellish tour", like they said of Technique.
Oh yes, also I'm sure New Order could tour on their own if they brought with them a young band who has success currently.
