I wonder what venues they're gonna play this time around? The world and his oyster seems to be playing Alexandra Palace next year, wonder if that's a starter for the Order? Surely bigger than Brixton, and better for a gig than, say, the Arena, so might give them the excuse of one big London gig than a few nights running at a smaller venue?

Sod the album?! Erm, no! :nonono: The lads are NOT the Rolling bloody Stones, nor do I want to see them turn into an elderly New Wave version. The only thing that keeps me interested in NO is the prospect of new material NOT them fucking up yet another performance of Atmosphere or belting out Get Ready fodder that is best left in the past.

A new album please, and if that sacrifices a few gigs then so be it. Seen them live twice, plus have about 20 live bootlegs inc. endless renditions of Blue Monday, Ceremony, and a good amount of Crystal and frankly I'm bored of "them live". Once they have new stuff in the setlist great, I'll be booking my tickets for the 05/06 gigs with some gusto, but not before. I always thought New Order were a forward thinking band, and I think they themselves (with the possible exception of Hooky) would not want to embark on new gigs unless they had something different to show. Even for Reading 98 despite no immeadiate new material the revamped versions of Isolation, Touched, etc. were enough for me.

Album then gigging, otherwise it's pointless and boring.

Agree with this statement.

However no chance of it happening.

A couple of gigs in London and Mancy then perhaps a couple of festival appearances.

digital mike, bless your heart, you still haven't realized the New Order "live experience" is now no more than someone pressing play backstage, Hooky hamming it up (not a bad thing) and Bernard reading lyrics from an auto cue and whooping his way through the set...not to mention the embarrassing, retarded "dancing" he does and the predictable setlists. Seriously, are you even a fan of the music or just in love with the legend of your bootlegs? It will be exciting to see them live but they don't deserve praise for their live sets or live creativity. Tons of pre-programmed sounds, at least 2 completely botched songs per show and a guaranteed miming of Blue Monday, True Faith, Bizarre Love Triangle and Touched by the Hand of God. Are you seriously looking forward to this? New Order are a studio band, they thrive in the studio setting and flail on stage. It's thrilling to see them live but the reality of the situation is, their predictable, "professional" walk through the setlist will be played out over the course of the short tour with one or two special treats (Love Vig) tossed in to keep it fresh. It's not 1982 anymore or 1987, and frankly, New Order haven't been up to their usual quality live since then. Their peers actually PLAY their own songs and can choose from 50-60 different songs to play on a given night. REM, The Cure, Depeche Mode, U2...all bands with similar catalogues to New Order and all bands who can vary their sets enough to please the hardcore fans and still find time for the hits to please everyone else. New Order should play 2 shows, both in Manchester and put out the best of both nights on DVD.

What is it you expect from New Order live? If it's just the build up and the drinking with buddies before the show, then i understand, but if you think they'll sound like anything other than the recorded versions of the classics and some fucked up, clunky run through the new tunes, your dead wrong.

Rocket, i'd truly love to experience the pre-gig festivities with the UK Onliners, including Mike and Tim, my two favorite antagonists. I believe i've missed something by not being able to see New Order on their home soil, with a rowdy UK audience. Still won't change the quality of the performance but the good times surrounding the show would be more valuable than the set list anyway. I'm just a little pissed that my favorite band can't get their shit together and put on an interesting live show to compliment their outstanding studio work.

Circa 84 was awesome.

They are a 1000 times better live than on record.

The gigs where / are all the better for the people who go and see em an jump up and down down the front

I've only seen them one time. AreaOne 2001. It was amazing. I loved every second. Seeing them live was thrilling but after obsessively collecting bootlegs and hearing virtually every show on the Get Ready tour, i've become disallusioned with their live abilities.

I have a handful of shows from 84 and they are at least interesting to listen to. They're so predictable now, all in the name of Professionalism. I just can't see how you can be so dramatically opposed to the studio work and so blindly obsessed with their obviously faltering live show. That's why i think they should only play two shows. That way they don't have to go through the motions of finishing with Blue Monday and talking about he "new" version of True Faith EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. It's not 84, it's 2004 and the experimental, exciting live shows of 2 decades ago are distant memories.

New Order are an embarassment live now... so I can't say I'm too upset that they don't play live that often. All that whooping and half-hearted singing is painful to listen to! :nono:
