JD box set

I like cd 1, All songs off UP, and Transmission, its bside Novelty, Ice Age, The Kill, Something must break. What a fine cd to listen to.

I still don't have the boxset. By the way, some people say that the American re-issue of the boxset is awful and much worse than the original London one (1997). Is it that bad? What's wrong with the American one?

hhmm...disc 1. the whole thing was sort of badly organized...having random scattered demos/unreleased tracks and whole albums, but still nice to have it all. i bought the UK import in the US for probably as much as the US one would've cost. i've never heard of the US one having any differences.

I hear the only difference between the US and UK versions are minor differences in the 80 page booklet that comes with the set. I have the US version. A fine set. Contains the greatest music by the greatest band ever.

Stop being so fooking pedantic about grammar, OM. BTW, there once was a novelty band called The Negatives playing at a gig with a heap of oth. bands, JD included. 2 members from memory were Paul Morley & Kevin Cummins who I think worked for the NME at that time.:D

Yes indeed. I think Richard Boon was another member. Not JD's favourite band though it's safe to say!

I keep going back to CD 1 simply because I'm more of a UP man that Closer (I love Closer, but UP seems to have more going on musically, in terms of energy).

I got the UK boxset (if I remember correctly, the US release was a couple years back, and I've had the set since '98 or 99, so it'd have to be the UK version), love the essay by Jon Savage (that's what led me to seek out "England's Dreaming"). Top-notch all around

the only difference btw the US and UK releases is the quality/type of paper the book is printed on. Same shit, different paper.

Hardly a grammatical error, was it? BTW, the music journalists reference was a direct nod to the Negatives, I wondered if anyone was going to be on the ball!
