Hello! Although I've been a 'lurker' for a long while now, I've never really contributed to this forum, so here goes with my first topic: Given a wish list, which UK (or overseas, come to think of it) venue would be your chosen location for a New Order gig? Having seen them in venues ranging from the luxurious Rotter's in Doncaster and Tiffany's in Leeds to the wide expanses of GMex, MEN Arena and Old Trafford, I have to say the smaller venues were my faves, but given the odds of them ever returning to such places, I'd now love to see New Order play...... Sheffield Leadmill! Great little venue with a cracking atmosphere - and the place stays open into the wee hours after bands have played so you can chill with a few pints and not worry about getting out the car park, catching the last train etc. Dream on.....and roll on Sirens Call.

Welcome to our club, Lowlife! Hope you enjoy yourself here. Some of us (me, for example) may seem a bit strange but we're all nice really.

As for my dream NO venue, it'd be Belfast's Waterfront Hall. It's got excellent sound, you can get a good view no matter where you sit and it's not too far from the city centre. Plus, if you can afford it, you can stay at the nearby Hilton, so you won't have to worry about getting home afterwards. Oh well, I can dream!

The waterfront would be a good gig alright Id like to see them back at the SFX here in Dublin - brings back old memories

Failing that - would they fit in my back garden?

Shelley, i have told you this so many many times:

New Order in the Waterfront Hall would be the worst gig ever. That venue is absolutely terrible. I must ask, have you ever seen anyone there? The acoustics are terrible, and the layour of the place means that there can be no crowd atmosphere. If they are, god forbid, any New Order gigs in Belfast, then the only venue they should play is the Ulster Hall. Great size, more standing tickets, better acoustics. Closer to the city centre.

End of discussion. :)

The v-festival Stafford ,i've been there for the past 4 years,it would top a great weekend of for me..

Waterfront spent millions on accoustic design, I can only assume they gave it to the painters or something. Place sounds nearly as bad as the kings hall ( which is basically and aircraft hangar). Ulster Hall every time up here, because it's designed to cope with mullholland organ, which is a loud as any concert PA. Olympia in Dublin is quite nice, as is the Ambassador, but both are quite small. The point depot is an amazing venue but you need f*ing enormous sound for it to pull it off.

NO had no problem filling the Point with Regret etc at the peace together concert in 1994(?) - also has the advantage of a large standing area (3,000?) surrounded by seating for the knackered. Ambassador & Olympia have good acustics but all seating - so that wont work. Wonder could they fill the Point?

Small venue tour, althogh unlikely, would be very special indeed. What do you think the odds are of NO venturing into my native land of Wales in their forthcoming tour?

Although to be fair I'd walk to Namibia just to hear one note from the boys live.

Well there was a rumour that they were planning on playing the City Live Arena in Newport back in December, but that didn't happen. Which venues would you think suitable? Seeing as they've only ever done Cardiff once and Bangor University once (and that as JD) it's probably safe to say it's not high on their list of priorities, unfortunately. Gloucester Leisure Centre isn't beyond the realms of possibility though.

Sorry Liam, but I don't agree with you on any of what you say about the Waterfront. And yes, I have been to gigs there; several of them, in fact.

Having just looked at the Waterfront site and done the tour of the venue, I can safely say that this is the worst sort of venue for New Order to play. You just can't get the right atmosphere with so many people sat down. New Order are at their best with the crowd stood up in front of them. The style of venue doesn't suit their sound either. Old theatres do, new ones don't.

Avalon , west 20th street NYC , best venue I've been in for years , great for gettin lost in and meetin new people when you're drunk

Sorry for so many multiposts, server kept saying it didn't get it and gave application errors, typical MS, can't even trust their errors. Both Olympia and Ambassador can have to ground floor seating removed.

'Lurked' here for some time too and would just like to say hello to everyone as well!

Definitely prefer smaller, standing only venues. Like to see them play the Malvern Winter Gardens again - not the best acoustics (and probably closed now anyway). But interestingly off the beaten track and the gardens are great for a game of footie :)

Shelley, who have you seen in the Warerfront? I have seen Feeder and The Charlatans in there, and both were crap gigs, through no fault of there own. Tim has hit the nail on the head, worst venue new order could ever play.

Couple of nights in the Apollo, nice 'warm up' in maxwell hall as garymac says, and then in the various academys around the country. Few festival dates. Then something resembling a world tour, i.e. a few dates not in UK or Ireland. Then finish the year with a big one night show in the g mex. They havent used it in about ten years, but what the hell.
