OMG  I'm not going to mince words by saying that scarf looks fucking awful!

Aside from the 1970s yellow on black style looking like some ultimate Chav fashion accessory, the label/font displaying the band + album title looks very dubious indeed (I'm not saying it is fake, but christ it doesn't look good) If I were to bid on it (which I wouldn't) I would demand to see something to prove it's not just a normal scarf with 2 shoddy labels sewn on it. Something saying it's come from Warners and is a genuine New Order promo item.

What a useless item though, I'm a bit disappointed in the band. A scarf?? At least the puzzle that was commissioned for (the best of) NewOrder album was pretty cool. Anything would've done other than a scarf, "Waiting For The Sirens Call Valium" perhaps? :D Let's hope that font/colour scheme is not indicative of the direction Saville is taking towards the new sleeve design, if so, come back Get Ready artwork and anonymous coloured lines, all is forgiven!

Ally.

agreed--the labels look like something your mother would sew to your clothing before sending you off to summer camp. i do like the scarf, though.

Can i put my neck on the line here...........;)

Looks like a fake to me :skeptic:

The scarf in question has now been variously described as:

  • Yellow on black
  • Red, white and blue
  • Maroon

I don't want to 'put my neck out here' but it would seem that either some fakes have begun to appear or there was more than one colour-scheme issued.

If it was done in Green, White and Gold I would have been tempted:laugh:

Fake. There is no way any record company would produce something so cheaply. Ok,it is after all only as scarf-but it would most likely be good quality like the record bags given away to promote 'Get Ready'. Plus wasn`t the thing Burgndy in colour?

I doubt it's a fake. You should see the one Johnny Giles(*) has. Blue/pink/grey with the afore-mentioned 'name' tags sewn across the bottom. Apparently they had all colours at the playback. The font/colourscheme etc have got f'all to do with Saville, it's just a cheap piece of gimmickry by Warners and, admittedly, anyone with half a braincell and a mother who can stitch should probably rush down their nearest Chavsave to buy a joblot of scarves and get 'em on ebay whilst there's all this interest. The Warners bag it comes with is probably worth more than the scarf itself.

(*) for the record, I was at Client with JG last night, and he's stopped wearing his already!

Well, that is worth the price of the material, I can understand why some people didn't put the picture in their auction!

Seriously though, I would have expected something more classy, but knowing that the artwork for the album isn't done yet, I'm not surprised...

This is very curious....You might also note that there have not been any bids on the scarf as of yet.

Looks to be the work of a "not-so-clever" opportunist.

Looks like the genuine article to me. There were various colour schemes being handed out and the positioning, style etc of the labels is identical to the one I have.

17 pounds? incredible to think that, what, 15 of those are paid for the 2 little tiny labels, and 2 only for the actual thing.

It's true when they say that an object is worth what someone is willing to pay for it... :nonono:

that was the idea yeah, but I didn't bid. it closed at GBP33 yesterday. now if it had the logo knitted into it like the name on my official Hearts scarf, then it would have been worth it (maybe). I'll wait for the next one ...

The band won't have had anything to do with this so check your diasppointment. This is a Warners marketing department promotional gimmick.

Scarves are very fashionable in London at the moment, don't you know. Get one of these Ally and you'll be ahead of the game in Edinburgh ;)
