Who sings with a "sexy" tone on Fine time? Is is Peter Hook? I know Hooky has a deep voice but I doubt he did that ![]()

i always thought it was barney going through some kind of vocal effects processor. either that, or a guest vocalist.

Tick in the correct box!
I heard it was all Barney... and when they did it on Top of the Pops it was clearly Barney doing the 'Barry White-esque' growl! :)
there are plenty of vocal processors that can be operated by the people working the sound booth at a live show. it's totally possible that they kicked in some kind of pitch shifting effect on his mic for live shows... you hear them turn on reverbs and delays on his voice often at key moments in live songs.

You mean a sample - it probably came from an Akai, triggered by the sequencers!

When you listen to the live versions, (there's one on retro), you can hear both Barney's live vocal and the pre recorded (tape or sample, both pretty much the same eccept one is digital) versions, they are slightly out of sync which indicates that it is not a live processed effect. The album version is probably Barney's voice being processed. The grunts and groans on the 12 inch where both Hooky and Barney, probably after a few too many pints of Bods and a bad kebab![]()
