New Order are planning a US tour in April, followed by the UK in May to promote the release of the new album 'Waiting For The Sirens Call'. The dates will be preceded by "some surprise live appearances".

Great news, but at this point in my life, I'm gonna wait a bit for further confirmation before I get my hopes up too high.

It's BS, pure and simple. There is no US tour, nor a UK tour in May.
Seems like total BS to me, because the "off the record" info I got doesn't state a US tour at all, otherwise I wouldn't be planning a trip!
But let's wait until they announce it for real, some "possibilities" were told at the listen party from what I heard...

Pah! if they would even tour in the US don't you think it would start in May and go on through the summer when our festivals are? Maybe they can fill up venues as the headliner in the UK, but if they did tour in the states it would very likely have to festival hop.

Are there any other major U.S. music festivals besides Coachella (May), SXSW (March), and Bonaroo (June)? Field Day, maybe?
I don't know why some are doubting New Order will do gigs to support the new album. The Get Ready era "tour" may have largely ignored the U.S. last time around, but there were still 35 gigs in 2001 & 2002 worldwide. They may not play down the street from most of us, but we'll probably still get an opportunity to see them again.
But they know that they won't fill the sort of venues they have to in order to make the tour financially viable, they know that at this late stage in their careers they aren't gonna start really cracking the US market, and there is no way they are gonna want to do a big tour. They weren't filling venues in 1989 at their peak, and they certainly won't be now. Realistically, all you'll get is them playing to someone else's audience, such as Coachella, anything more is not in their business interests, and at the end of the day they are a business.
What does a 'tour' constitute these days anyways? Seems just a question of semantics. If New Order are gonna play live in the UK/US in April/May, then that 'might' be a goer, but I doubt we're gonna see them slogging their guts out in either country hitting the road each and every day.
Either way, the UK will get them first, even if it's only a warm-up for the US.

New Order wouldn't fill ARENAS in the U.S. these days, but they could certainly fill venues with 3000 (+/-) people capacity, like MOST bands are doing these days anyway. Add another band to the ticket, like Franz Ferdinand, and it makes a tour that is quite efficient both financially and marketingwise.
After watching Moz slug his way through the U.S. in 2,500 -3,000 seat venues and selling out most nights in major cities, I don't see how NO couldn't do it. I mean look at some of these bands - Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Belle & Sebastian, Duran Duran (1st run of reunion dates). Not necessarily the largest bands, but all play these venues to adoring crowds. Plus, if money is the key, Moz and PSB charged upwards of $50.00 a show in these places. That's upward of $150,000 a night just at the door. Think about, all NO needs is the right man with right plan to make a quick mint in the US in just 2-3 weeks.
