I'd love to hear them dig out Sunrise. Despite me specifically asking a pissed steve morris for it, that and sooner than you think, i seriously doubt they'd do it. Of course, of they do, it will clearly be me that swung it

That is quite unfortunate. Procession is one of my favourite NO songs, and I would have loved to see them play it live (although the possibility of ad-libbed "whooping" makes that reality a bit more bearable).

But as NOBabe said, I'm not going to be fussy as long as I finally get to see them play.

The Perfect Kiss, with the bass solo at the beginning, but that will never happen. TBTHOG would also be good, and so would Sub-Culture and Round and Round. But, honestly, if they just come to the east coast and play Blue Monday and True Faith, I'll be content.

Another vote for EGG, listened to the way that it blended into Temptation rather nicely @ Nottingham 84 last night.

AOC would be my second choice.

though it's not my favorite song, i really felt like the 98 and 2001-02 shows were missing that certain something that was THE PERFECT KISS. But I voted "other" in the hopes that Hooky's bass would announce their presence with authority while also giving a nod to the diehards with a LONESOME TONIGHT opener.

I was going to vote for Vanishing Point, but on reflection I've gone for Everything's Gone Green. All the times I've seen them they've never played the bugger. Then the next night on the tour when I wasn't there they played it!

I want TPK brought back into the set. Was it Hooky who said he couldn't imagine playing TPK in his late forties ?! I'd rather be remembered for a timeless masterpiece like TPK than some throwaway poptune like Krafty.

"1963" gets my vote! Maybe they could do a live-version in the arthurBaker1995-rmx kinda style with additional guitars and more Hooky. ... and any track off Technique is certainly welcome!

... and another top-tune, not mentioned before and not too hard to rehearse, would be (another fave of mine): LONESOME TONIGHT!

I went for Thieves Like Us, since I've never seen NO, and it's just one of my favourite NO songs.

On a more general note, I've never really understood bands (esp those with sizeable back catalogues) just sticking to the same songs every night (just in a different order), with maybe one change. If I were in a band, I can't imagine there being a better rush than suddenly kicking out an impromptu (encore?) version of a lost gem (e.g. Weirdo, AOC, everyone has their own idea!) or even a cover (see Sister Ray, Anarchy In The UK, Ostrich). I know it's a bit tougher for NO, with the electronic-based songs, but they have enough band-based ones to do this surely? One of my favourite bands is Spiritualized, and they are the worst example - on a tour, exactly the same setlist every night without fail.

This has been a long-running one Karl, and we are no nearer the real reasons to this day. Until 1989 they did a different set every night, everything was interchangeable. There were some shocking performances of songs not rehearsed for years!

It seems they were desperately unhappy with how hit and miss the live show was, so for the 1989 US Tour they decided to rehearse 20 songs, mixing them up as two distinct sets that were rotated every night. On occasion, some other songs found their way into the set, but these were few and far between. The key for Hooky was the lack of professionalism they believed they were showing.

The next set of gigs in 1993 featured the same set every night bar two, one that featured a shoddy take on Special, and one that was shorter than the rest.

In 2001/2002 they again stuck to the same set every night pattern by and large, agreeing a set for a series of dates and not really varying it. The Australian dates offered a choice between Love Vigilantes and Ceremony, that was about all.

Since Bernard adopted an autocue to provide the lyrics, and Phil joined the band, there have been fewer set changes than before. They also upgraded their sequencer technology several times between 1989 and 2002, which meant that a lot of the songs they used to play got left behind in terms of sequencing. They hired Roger Lyons of Lionrock to sequence some of the newer songs, and he ran out of time sequencing older material for the live set.

One thing is for certain, we will never see the old days again where the set was changed every night. Let's be grateful we still have the chance to get to see them at all though!

Understandable I guess, but sort of takes away part of that ramshackle brilliance that everyone associates with NO. This was alluded to on that BB6 documentary, either Barney or Hooky said something like "I understand how some fans prefer the earlier days of extreme brilliance/crapness, but they weren't the ones crying backstage after a gig". You're right though, this doesn't detract too much from my excitement at (hopefully) getting to see them for the 1st time.

Well whatever burried treasure song(s) they unearth for the next tour (erm, "appearances"), I'll either need to be there in person to see it (preferred), or have it be on their next DVD :D
