On a similar line of enquiry as before, which of the above candidates should make way for a blast from the NO past?

Get rid of Blue Monday. They hate it, we're bored of it, and in the time it takes to knock it out we could have had another two tunes instead.

But they're playing festivals which means giving the average punter what s/he wants, and what Joe Public wants is their most famous tune.

Bollocks.

God there so much CHOICE

I'd drop Touched by the hand of God 60 miles an hour & probably Close Range out of that lot for starters

... all of the above minus "Brutal" and "60 mph". :bag:

don't mind Blue Monday really, it's part of a group of oldies that they'll never be allowed to forget, whether they like it or not. I'd get rid of 60mph, nothing special that one.

I've gone for True Faith, nothing against the record, it's just that they're ruined a good song with a shite mix.

Sacrilege that Blue Monday is winning this. Anyone who says they didn't love this on the day they first heard it is a mug. Admittedly, all roads don't lead to Blue Monday so it shouldn't be the pinnacle of the set but it's sooo much better than your 60mph's and Close Range's so should never be dropped in favour of them.

Close Range is sketchy on the album and even worse live.

Scrap all of Get Ready minus Crystal (or Primitive Notion  )

I did think about not including Blue Monday in this, but then figured Mike could only vote once! It will always be one of their greats, but maybe every other/every third gig rather than every one?

I've voted or vetoed Close Range. I feel it's the weakest song in that selection. Though it was close with BLT which I think needs putting to bed now. Unfortunately BLT has become labored in it's present form.

The only two songs that worked having a makeover were IMHO TBTHOG and Confusion.

Really can't agree on Touched - the simplification of the bass sequencer part just turned it into a thudding plodalong (though admittedly the tweak it received at Old Trafford was pleasant enough). There are two bass sequencers at work at the start of the song - if the melody-carrying one was given slightly higher priority in the live mix it would brighten it up considerably.

I picked "Brutal" because it's horribly boring live. This song is fine on record but it simply doesn't work well live. "Close Range" doesn't either.

They will never remove Blue Monday...

Gee, I've been to the Dream Tour (The Cure) where they decided to play the songs they wanted to play, and I've seen who's a fan and who's not... the only time people lifted up and didn't go get pizzas were when they played Lovesong...

Some people go to gigs just to hear the biggest hits. The problem with New Order is not that, it's that they do short sets.

Bring me a 2 hours set any day...

The average 2002 gig was over 90 minutes. Back in 1985 it would have been impossible to envisage them doing 17 or 18 songs!

Alot of songs need to go to make their set list fresh again. But I voted for Blue Monday, because the version they play now sound flat and boring. And I hope steve looks at this thread and takes notice. But a few more need to go:

Your Silent face: Yea it was good for the get ready tour, but lets move it to Leave me alone.

Brutal: That was a nice suprise, but again lets move it to a new song on the cd.

TBTHOG: A must go. It does sound great live, but their is so much more to offer.

True Faith: My favorite song, but the new mix does suck, and should be dropped.

60mph: I love this song, but lets be honest the crowd isn't going crazy when they play it, so lets drop it for a new song on the cd.

I would really like to see them do what they did on the technique tour and play most of the songs from Sirens, with a couple of extra songs to fill the set.

Touched by.. Barney's voice on that one is starting to annoy me live, whoops 'n' all!

I instinctively voted for the ubiquitous BM but then felt a bit guilty, as I actually only enjoy it live these days.

Other tracks listed which would be close to the boot were 60mah & Close Range as I've not really been blown away by either of them live.

60- and it ain't my age YET!:D

BM isn't going anywhere.

Ditch TBTHOG, Brutal, 60 MPH.

BM because its long, on tape and hookys drum thing never works. could do with dumping a lot of the set really and reworking some different stuff. only so much tape and 'woo' that i can put up with continously

Touched, gotta agree that most of the versions I've heard lately just plod along.

TBTHOG, YSF, Close Range, 60MPH all have to go

Any chance Here To Stay will ever get an airing?

Crystal 60 Miles An Hour Ceremony Your Silent Face Temptation

I wouldnt mourn the passing of the rest.

60MPH. although i'm sick of blue monday there's way too much history there, and i agree with al: we all loved it when we first heard it! so it wouldn't be right without BM. brutal was my second choice, and it was really tossing a coin. i just closed my eyes and imagined myself at a gig listening to them both, and thought about which would give me less of a buzz. the former, it was.

TBTHOG. I like the single but live it sounds like boom chuck a luck boom song. Too many opportunities for Barney to dance and whoop it up.

Was thinking about ditching BLT but every sod that drug their GF there would never hear the end of "they did not play BLT." My wife would bitch.

Keep BM, its their signature but make Hooky use bowling pins for drum sticks.

Close Range needs to go unless Gillian or Dawn Zee is there to back up.

60 mph could be dropped for a different rockin' bastard.

Primative Notion--COME ON GUYS

YSF--keep it. NO at their finest

Regret--drop it

Temptation--only if a EGG segued version

did I mention that I think they should drop TBTHOG?

Setlist needs freshening up all round. It is too predictable.

The big 5 Joy Division numbers. Blue Monday, True Faith, Temptation, Bizarre love triangle, Crystal. A couple of gems, a bit more dross.

They should unleash loads of new tracks, some gone but not forgotten classics (Dreams never end, Age of consent, Perfect Kiss, perhaps an acoustic 5 8 6), plus Primitive Notion and Here to stay.

Make it so lads ;)

An acoustic 586? Five minutes of silence then a few seconds of booming bass? A surefire crowd-pleaser that'd be

I'd drop 60 Miles an Hour. I suppose it's inclusion was justified in the Get Ready era but I don't think it's got any staying power.

No need to include it this time around :nonono:
