Are we sure they're real promos? Anyway the single cover won't look like this, the font is cool but it's too similar to Low Life, you'll see the single will be different...
don't count on it. the promo's from get ready had the same artwork as the official releases.

Not really...the Crystal promo I have doesn't even have an artwork...
It was said at the album playback that the artwork wasn't ready yet...
Don't panic Brian ;)
And I'll link it, because I'm lazy.

obviously, some promo's don't have art but this release for sale on ebay DOES have art. they wouldn't design a seperate sleeve for the promo, won't happen. the sleeve pictured will be the sleeve on the general release.

Well, it does look like the Perfect Kiss sleeve.
But I doubt that will be the final artwork... but with Saville we never know...

I have known them do this for CD PROMO's but NOT on the 12 inch records unless you count SOMEONE LIKE YOU.But then again this NEVER was released as a SINGLE...was it? Regards Rocket Mick

Moan, moan bloody moan. Of course you, Brian, with your years of experience and proven pedigree as a graphic designer would have done so much better.
I like it,even if it is only the promo sleeve. Its a return to the old days. Now if we could just get a 10 minute dub version on the b.side,

Well, for something 'not released as a single', I have three rather large slabs of packaged vinyl in my 12" singles record box here in my study! Just didn't come out on CD, or with radio edits/B sides, did it? I quite liked that they brought a 'third' single off 'Get Ready' no one really knew about.
Andy
Well as i said earlier only TWO SOMEONE LIKE YOU in LOVELY RED COVER was i able to get as a DOUBLE PROMO.Was it actually released as a SINGLE though in the UK as a 12 inch?So much was being muted at the time but due to personnel PROBLEMS i fell off the COLLECTING SCENE and never quite got back on.Will check your and TLV lists for SORDID DETAILS.Ain't it GREAT when you LEARN something NEW.Thanks MR D.You are indeed an bigger ANORAK and a STAR than me.What a KERFUFFLE.Now back to FAC 53!
Regards ROCKET MICK
Indeed it is the DJXX10 and the corresponding 12inch(UK RELEASE -is it) in YELLOW COVER that i have NOT got. ![]()
Yes Mick, they were released as a single, hence available for sale at major online shops (which a promo could not be)

Strange but i actually bought mine at a SHOP(remember them) and although NOT for SALE i had to buy it.I had wanted a PROMO for CRYSTAL at the time but this is what he had.Told me there would be NO single of this RELEASED.Due to the old ways of buying records via SHOPS and NOT ONLINE this is why i had not known of these.Unless i travel to MANCHESTER these days then it is almost impossible to get most VINYL(sometimes PRESTON-next town ,may have them). It was only with the next release -CONFUSION ,that i had to buy from a ONLINE dealer.I did used to buy via the RECORD COLLECTOR early 90's but then wanted to get back to finding stuff in SHOPS.Alas these days are coming to an END.Rather sad really but with the advent of the net,P2p and filesahring, the small shops CANNOT compete. One day all records will be got via D.SULTAN only! :D
It's a special release though, hence why it's only on 12"...
A shame really, as the Gabriel & Dresden mixes aren't available on CD anywhere.
But to be honest, that one was supposed to be a DJ release only...

Moan, moan bloody moan. Of course you, Brian, with your years of experience and proven pedigree as a graphic designer would have done so much better.
yes, as i stated in the first post, i've got 34 years of graphic design experience and 245 years experience bitching about other designers work. fuck you.
if i want to complain, i will. if you want to smoke the pipe of saville and newOrder and not call them out when they release garbage or, in this case, RECYCLED SLEEVE DESIGN, then by all means do that. it's time to face facts about Peter Saville and Associates. the sleeve for Krafty has been done before by many other bands and on top of that its GOLD. I don't like it. You don't have to share my opinion Old Blue and you also don't have to insult me because of my opinion. You're easier to please and from the outside, looks like you'll like anything they do regardless. quite of few posters here can't see the reality of NewOrder in the 21st century. Great music, shit lyrics, predictable live shows and second rate sleeve design by what should be a top rate designer.
good point. you didn't insult me but i felt attacked. sorry for biting back with a vengence.
i guess i was expecting too much with the artwork for the new singles/albums. i know i've only seen half a pic of a promo 12" so this moaning is all pointless but i enjoy moaning, shoulda been a hooker.
odds are good that saville and ass. will continue the trend from Republic and Get Ready with similar sleeves for singles and the album. i hope this doesn't mean a bunch of solid color sleeves with generic type. i hate gold and i've seen that particualar font/solid color design used on plenty dance 12"s over the last 10 years.
my favorite saville sleeve is probably Shellshock but i love the Low-Life tracing paper, Unknown Pleasures and even the simple Silver sleeve for Perfect Kiss. i don't particularly care for the recent work Savilles done with New Order or Suede and don't believe he's on top of the game as far as graphic design goes. Yes, even i could have designed the sleeve for Krafty.
what do you like about the sleeve?
Me..i'll tell you what i like about that SLEEVE.Nothing.Reason why is the REMIX for WIM was GOLD and every time i pulled the price tag from one the GOLD came with it.I asked them not to PRICE them up but they had already done the batch.Seems daft but that annoying DETAIL has stayed with me.These days i want lot's of colours and pictures to admire whilst trying to IGNORE the LYRICS.But as most of the COVERS are CD only the JOY of COLLECTING has diminished even for me.Shame really.
Rocket Mick -i really outta take up drinking again! ![]()

Thank you. I apologise for making you feel under attack. Enough said.
Why do I like it? Because it screams New Order I suppose. Reminds me of when they were cool. Like you said, I'm easily pleased...
hmm, both are CDs and not 12". i searched but no 12" at all. ![]()
what we have to pay attention here is to the font type. on both sleeves is the same so it will probably be the font we´ll see in each release of this era. AND the fact that the song title is in lowercase and the band in uppercase it´s another design fact. then they just seem regular promos to me. i don´t think they´ll be the definitive sleeves.

that´s a little camera that Ebay uses to mark all the pictures hosted on their site, no NO design. ;)
I still think SLY was only on promo-just cos you can buy it from online stores and record shops doesn`t mean its a proper release. HMV sells white label mash-ups and bootlegged old house tunes now.

That's the INFO i got at that time but then LOST OUT due to other things happening in my lfe so i never followed this up.Very interesting though cos some say YES and some say NO.
PROMO ONLY,ONLINE ONLY.....what is the REAL REASON.A bit of both.Very intrigued now. Thanks for your comments.I must strive to get the YELLOW COVERED one NOW! ![]()
It was nice to have the double vinyl red 12" - very collectable. They have regular catalogue numbers, not 'DJ' in there or anything like that. Official releases, definitely. They were widely available at the time, and promos are normally a bitch to track down.
As for that SLY "CD" single - it was just in in-house CD-R, so not easy (or cheap) to track down. Would set me back a fortune on Ebay, so some of these mixes are not 'officially available' on CD, as far as I'm concerned (other than the ones on the 60 MPH CD singles).
One thing I'm wondering: are the tracks on in-house CD-R promos mastered to the same quality of the commercial releases?
Andy
i´d love to have a 2x12" red SLY myself. is still easy to find? i wonder if they cost a fortune!
i dont think it is gold at all - i think that the gold tint is due to the flash/ exposure on the picture

Apart from the DOUBLE RED (yours official) and mine DJ,which is the other you have ?Is it the YELLOW one with 2 tracks on ONLY? Regards Rocket Mick
