I just realized this. We all know that New Order didn't show up in their video since Spooky has been released.
But seriously? Anybody knows why? It can't be because they don't want to.. they all appeared in their side-project videos...
Anyways, not like I often watch these anyways...
i was watching a ChemBros spotlight here the other day and Barney was there. he mentioned the fact that musicians are musicians and not actors so he thinks that shouldn´t be mixed up if you want the videos to be good.
Could it have something to do with the fact that they aren't as young as they used to be and at least two of them have put on a few pounds?

Think this is something that has been blown out of proportion-like they dont do interviews,when they do. Truth is,they appear in most of the video`s.

I like New Order videos. I want them all. Well I have most of them, but I want them on crispy clear DVD.

I actually thought they were great in World and Regret...IMO you don't have to be an actor to be in a music video...especially if its mostly as cameos.
The reason New Order don't appear in their videos often is because they don't like the idea of self promotion in music videos. They find promoting the band boring. Bernard has said that they prefer making music videos into a piece of art rather than focus on the band itself. It's not really understood mainstream but the club scene dig it.
This is why they had trouble with the major record labels, because the way the labels do things is all to do with the band and self promotion, and that's not the way Bernard, Peter, Steve and Gillian see it, which is a shame the record labels can't understand.
This is also why you only see glimpses of them in some of their videos (Blue Monday, Regret etc...) The record label asked them to be in it. So say the World video for instance, it was just going to be a camera going around some foreign town then into a hotel, but their record label made sure there was some kind of band involvement in there, that's why you see Hooky sitting at a table and Steve and Gillian having a photo taken.
Surely you've seen "In Conversation" from 316 DVD!?
Well, nobody complained about the World video, and they are in there for very small part.
Seriously, I'd prefer that to a no show... or put in live segments, I don't care.
On the other hand, Here To Stay was brillant for using the fake Bernard Sumner though... as for Crystal, I don't know if they did it on purpose...
But still, Bernard appeared in all Electronic videos until 2001, Hooky in all Monaco videos until 2000 and Steve & Gillan in all the Other Two videos.. why they do it then, but not as "New Order" is still something that puzzles me.
Oh well...
Just make up some arty farty stuff interspersed with some live footage, you know like they use to do in the olden days. That should work just fine. Especially with some Barney dancing. Now won't that wake up the kids on MTV.
Speaking of NO appearing in videos, I'd totally forgotten about Barney's "cameo" in the Wire video for Eardrum Buzz till I saw it again last night, just a couple of seconds of him scratching away at his ear. Almost as lovely as the sight of Bruce Gilbert in the wig. ;)
