Very true. One interesting thing I took from it:
We once got stitched up by Smash Hits, a nasty little story about Barney. The day it appeared we did the shittiest gig ever and Barney was raging. The record company guy brought up this journalist, "He's the top features writer from blah-blah" and this journalist just went, "Sign my records man!" I thought, "Have I got the person to meet you!" I took him into the dressing room and this guy goes, "Sign my records, man!" Barney went crazy, just missed the guy with a Pernod bottle - Barney was trying to kill him. I didn't stop laughing for half an hour afterwards [smiling wickedly] - so even in the face of adversity you can have fun.
During the US 86 tour this'll be - can't remember what date the article was, but I do remember it was at Santa Barbara, and it went to print about a fortnight later. Very poor journalism, fingers crossed the muppet who wrote it isn't still earning a crust in music journalism. Probably at the NME now!

very good interview. and a nice bit of info:

Well, many of us have the Ceremony version that Steve did... I know I have it...
But indeed, it's probably the best interview I've read since I watched NewOrderStory or maybe the "In Conversation" on 316...
I believe I'll watch 24HPP over again this week-end, I'm missing stuff!
And I really liked to see Hooky talking about bootlegging of the album:
"For us to get bootlegged now would kill Warners, and would stop them giving us the promotional push."
So I did a thread just about that... I thing it won't change a thing, but I'm happy the album haven't leaked yet... just because of that!

Not to be picky or anything, but I noticed at the start of the article:
"I'll let you into a secret," says Okoreke. "Seeing New Order at Reading festival in 1997 was the reason we started in music."
I wasn't aware they were reformed for Reading in '97 
Could someone fill me in on the setlist? A CD bootleg perhaps? Were they playing in the field next door? Now that's either a clumsy typo or an unfortunately innaccurate gush by the bandmember as they knew they were about to meet Hooky and had to say something suitably flattering. I have a funny feeling if you'd kickstarted your musical career after seeing your favourite band at a festival, you'd remember every detail of the setlist let alone the year the festival took place in.
Bloc Party's a shit name for a band too but definitely nice to see Hooky reeling off the anecdotes.

I thought the "nasty little story" thing referred to a Smash Hits article covering the American tour. Accompanying the article was a photo of two American "foxtressses" (their words) outside his hotel room with his shorts - the inference being he'd slept with them the night before. As he was married at the time this probably did not go down well...
Great interview! Cheers for the link, Al. Nice to see the Hookster giving the nod to Bloc Party. They truly deserve the hype and press that they've been getting because they really are that good.
