I've been one of the many longtime lurkers on the site that have decided to expose themselves in the sheer joy of a new album coming out.
When I first previewed Krafty roughly two weeks ago I have to say I was slightly disappointed. I had my fingers crossed that when I hit play I was going to be treated to another instant classic a la BLT... Unfortunately, it didn't happen. While thrilled that New Order had a new song out Krafty sounded like something that was more appropriate or likely found on a Revenge/Monaco album (not surprising since Peter Hook claims that the song began with a middle part that he'd written himself)...
However the strangest thing happened when I played the song today now that two weeks have gone by... I actually really, really like this song now. It's not BLT but it's fun, it's upbeat, and sounds suspiciously like something that should be on the PRETTY IN PINK soundtrack while still being contemporary.
I think that now that my expectations are gone I'm able to actually enjoy the song for what it is... Something light and great from my favorite band... I'm not sure if it's the sunny weather today, the fact that no one else is in my office or if I've simply gone insane however the song has just gone up a bunch of notches in my book.
Just wondering if anyone else who didn't really like the single when they first heard it has had the same experience now that a little time has gone by... as well, for those who maybe didn't like it that much on first play... try it again... you might be pleasantly surprised.
And thanks for a great website (my suckup moment)
