Hello all.
I was in an independent record store this afternoon and came across a Joy Division DVD that I had never seen. I assumed it was a new bootleg, as I can't find it on the net.
It was 2 discs, and I know the second one was live songs. The cover was white, with a picture of the band on it.
Can anyone shed any light on this piece?

Bootleg. Probably the Substance/Here Are the Young Men 2-disc set. Fairly common bootleg. There's rumblings of a planned official DVD with all Joy Division footage, plus newly unearthed footage. May coincide with the release of the JD film next year.

So I shouldn't waste my $20 on it then?
Not sure. Depends on how much you like Joy Division. HATYM is not the best recorded concert in the world...one grainy and unfocused VHS camera shooting from the same angle the whole time. Substance has the videos and some other interesting live footage. Very interesting stuff if you're a diehard JD fan like me, but if not, it's your call. Who knows if they'll ever actually put together an official DVD, but those bootlegs are rather common on Ebay and other places, so you'll be sure to see other copies around.
$20??? Can I get the address of that store???
Sure HATYM aint the best BUT the first few songs are not bad before the one angle black and white camera takes over. Where else are you going to see Ian perform and dance? $20 is a cheap price to see Joy Division
I suppose that's true. The super 8 footage is just wonderful, barring the short lengths of the songs due to the film running out on all of them. Probably the creepiest JD footage!

Not in any existing footage, or in fact in any existing audio bootlegs. Closest thing to that is hearing him collapse onstage in the bootleg to the April 4, 1980 Moonlight Gig after having had a seizure at a different show earlier that night at the Rainbow. Pretty eerie boot.
