Crystal Vs Who's Joe

Who's Joe is a great track but Crystal has firmly established itself as a classic song.

Winner: Crystal

60 mph Vs Hey Now What You Doing

The weak chorus in 60mph let's it down but that fantastic instrumental break redeems it. HNWYD is a good song, though.

Winner: 60 mph (just)

Turn My Way Vs WFTSC

No contest.

Winner: WFTSC

Vicious Streak Vs Krafty

Vicious Streak is one of the highlights of Get Ready, an underrated song IMHO. That weak solar flare lyric at the end let's it down a little. Krafty is good, but perhaps lacking a little in a recognisable riff or tune.

Winner: Vicious Streak

Primitive Notion Vs I Told You So

One of Hooky's best bass riffs Vs 1993 stylee reggae something or other.

Winner: Primitive Notion

Slow Jam Vs Morning Night and Day

No contest. Slow Jam is cack.

Winner: Morning Night and Day

Rock The Shack Vs Dracula's Castle

In terms of the worst song names ever they both win. Rock the Shack is however an awful song.

Winner: Dracula's Castle

Someone Like You Vs Jetsream

Both cheesy in their own way, but Jetstream is like a lump of cheddar sprikled with mozarella and then dipped in sugar. Eurgh.

Winner: Someone Like You

Close Range Vs Guilt is a Useless Emotion

The female vocals in Guilt... are a major minus point for that song, but then Close Range has always sounded muddled to me - like a great song that wasn't quite done justice.

Winner: Guilt is a Useless Emotion

Run Wild Vs Turn

Both great in their own way, but I believe Turn is a truly fantastic song.

Winner: Turn (by a mile)

Silence Vs Working Overtime

I'll take silence, thanks!

Winner: None

Overall: GET READY - 5 WFTSC - 5

So erm... what does that mean? I think WFTSC is the better album but... oh forget it

MT, I just skipped to the couple of lines at the end of your post - was there anything worth reading in the beginning bit?

Oi! Have you seen that link up there? Preview listen from Radio 1 available. Shame it's not the good stuff.

Back on topic.

It's like comparing Arsenal with Liverpool and putting Henry up against Biscan instead of Morientes.

No, it's a rubbish post. Just look at this smiley instead:

That's the fun of it.

Now let's compare the colour purple to cheese on toast

I thought this was going to be a poll of some sorts.

Anyway, after many listens to WFTSC, I still thing Get Ready is the superior record. Then again, it's probably my favorite NO record.

I can't agree to all this talk of new songs upturning classics like Turn my Feet.

Your all crazy.

Now let's compare the colour purple to cheese on toast

Two classic examples of how a combination can add up to more than it's constituent elements. Red and Blue are fine, as are Cheese and Bread. However the introduction of heat to the latter and erm a prism or something to the former, truely transforms the pair into a magnificent fusion that eclipses it's starting point.

They didn't call bread toast for nothing you know.

But what if you dye the cheese purple beforehand or perhaps soak the bread in beetroot juice?

Do you have beetroot with your scouse? I prefer red cabbage.

Agree with Major on most of the songs, except:

Turn my way beating beating WFTSC. The latter is a nice drippy-droppy song but has nothing special, and even if the first 20 seconds sound like Incubation that doesn't help.

Slow Jam and Morning Night and Day tie, they're both cack IMHO.

and indeed, I too prefer silence over this Stooges rip-off called Working overtime.

I said that WFTSC beats Turn My Way :)

Or did you mean that you think it should?

and I say that Turn my way easily beats WFTSC

and did I mention that Dracula's Castle is one of the worst song titles ever but nevertheless has to be the second single?

I have to confess that this new album didn't get the place of Get Ready as my favourite NO album, too. Although I'm still waiting what time can make. I don't care that much with lyrics since I'm Brasilian, so it doesn't count too much for me. I don't think a comparison track by track is the best way to do it. The both albums have one track that didn't get me that much - Vicious Streak and Working Overtime. In WFTSC Hooky's bass is in general more audible, which is a very good thing, but overall I like Get Ready a little more than WFTSC.. For an example: Crystal and Primitive Notion are better than anything in WFTSC, IMHO.
