If Gillian was still in the band, and Phil was not in the band, how would the new album have turned out you think?

Probably more synth based, maybe more "techniquey".  I think it would have been better.

Better, definitely! I don't like walls of guitars or "screaming" guitars.

I believe all members would be fatter for eating more cake.

can anyone provide a list of new order songs that gillian either wrote herself or was mainly responsible for?

Funny. I thought Barney's tits were actually bigger than hers. :evil4:

I'ts hard to say about what the new album would have turned out like if Gillian was still in the band,NO might not of gone in the same direction they have now...

I wonder if Bernard would have done the same arse-grab move he did at Finsbury if Phil wasn't the one over there?

I think the album would be even better if the Gillian was in an Phil was in too...

Surely everyone knows that when there's a woman around, she's in charge? Everyone has to do what she says! Probably have turned out different - better? worse? who knows, but still different!

Chris, that was almost like poetry. There's a tear in my eye.

It would be magical. Or rather not smell like musk.

isn't the answer the same as when NO are questioned about what direction the band would have gone in if Ian Curtis was still alive? i.e. no different

What if Phil was in Gillian and Stephen was out?

Gillian doesnt seem to be motivated to be in the band at this point, so it is a moot question anyway.

it's hard to tell how much imput she had anyway... just cause she played synths keyboards on stage doesnt mean she wrote them all

and the most obvious difference.... somebody in the band KNOWS HOW TO PLAY and WRITE GUITAR LIKE a GUITARIST!

it is a subtle but big difference! maybe it loses some of the charm of New Order thou. or maybe its the "shot in the arm" the band needed. or maybe it's just Stephen Street:shrug:

Avalanche and Dream Attack (also known as Gillian's acoustic one).

It all seems rather similar to when Duran replaced Andy Taylor with Cuccurullo from Missing Persons and the sound of the band changed immediately. Fortunately, I don't think WFTSC is nearly as disappointing as Big Thing(or DD's version of Republic, Liberty).

You'd have probably heard shouts of STEPHEN, IT'S YOUR TURN TO LOOK AFTER THE BLOODY KIDS !!!

In my opinion, any direction other than what they produced would have been better. I've listened to the whole album about ten times so far. I'm just not feeling. Sure there are some catchy songs, but nothing that sticks in my head when walking down the street. If i was to make a "greatest hits/favorite songs" compilation at this point, I don't think any song from sirens would make it. I know Gillian may not have that much influence in the making of music, but I like to think she may have said something that would have made the album a little better at least.

I hope the remixes of the songs make it worthwhile though.

These tracks are some *we know*: Dream Attack World In Motion Best and Marsh M T O Avalanche Vanishing Point (there is an early instrumental version from Steve & Gillian)
