  • Yes, no doubt! 6 (33%)
  • Yes, but they should change the title. 5 (28%)
  • Yes, please spare us the nightmare called J-E-T-Stream. 2 (11%)
  • No, the album doesn't have the potential for a second single. 5 (28%)

Well, personally I think it's the strongest song of the album, has some hit potential, and could definitely profit from some decent remixes. So my choice is clear.

Well... "Dracula's Castle" has grown on me a lot the last few days, but from the commercial point of view it's not a single. Jetstream is, eben if i don't like it. You have to sell singles and not impress with an artistic masterpiece...

Although it's a good song, it's not single material.

Yes, no doubt. And they shouldn't change the title cuz it has nothing to do with Pet Shop Boys, ok? JET is NOT the nightmare as a matter of fact it should be a single too. But the second single is gonna be WFTSC and we all know that.

The name is too shite for it to be a single

Turn should be the next single

Is Dracula's Castle available for the X-Box?

Where is the option "No, there are at least 6 better tracks on the album" ?

I cracked a stunning Castlevania joke the other day. Pity no one seemed to notice.

Oh, and release something better instead.

THIS SONG IS TERRIBLE !

It shouldn't even have been on the album, so to think of it as a SINGLE ???

This poll appears to be worded in Dracula's Castle's favour so there's not really an option for me.

However, should it bollocks be a single.

Um, it is the LEAST single-worthy track on the album. Your poll is retarded.

Question: What is a single supposed to do?

Answer: Get nonfans interested in the band....

thus, JETstream works....

Dracula's Castle is the most "recycled" sounding of all the songs. maybe thats what you want, something that sounds like old New Order, so you like it...

but I must agree it is one of the lesser tracks... a below average track on the record

I literally earn my money constructing questionnaries. So, I know what I do

Methink WFTSC is too long a track for a single, and it would be difficult to edit to an acceptable length without butchering it.  However they already did so with TPK and they could do it again.

I went to vote, but the correct option isn't there: just a straightforward "NO". It's not good enough to be the second single, it's one of the weaker tracks; but there ARE contenders for a great second single - Turn, the title track.. I'd even prefer Jetstream to Dracula...

Yeah, you sure are. We are compelled to vote either for "Dracula's Castle" as the second single (3 options out of 4) or no second single at all.

But I have to admitt my strategy doesn't work that well. To many contrary opinions of that song. But I still think it's great and deserves some decent remixes. Imagine an electro cut of that song. I'm pretty sure that works very well.

Not exactly a very fair poll. We've basically got a choice between Dracula's Castle, "the poor" Jetstream or "the album has no second single potential"?? What about the raft of other tracks that IMHO are quite superior to both Jetstream AND Dracula's Castle? For a start, we have Turn, a definite high point of the album, the excellent Morning Night And Day, and Guilt Is A Useless Emotion. Fair dos, Guilt may not be everyone's cup of tea but I think it definitely has what it takes to do well in the charts and spawn a couple of monster 12" remixes.

Morning Night And Day is so much better than Dracula's Castle, it's more energetic, got all the right elements, great lyrics and a clear chorus. Even "Hey Joe" with it's "I'll look for you..." chorus is a tad more interesting than Dracula. I think Dracula is album track material only.

Ally.

PS. As Al Jarvis said the poll's wording is completely biased towards Dracula's Castle and frankly does not look like the work who makes "questionnaires for a living". If you do, you're really hiding your skills well in this post. Sorry!

Its bloody good, and I liked it on about my second listen, BUT there are stronger singles on the album.

Turn WFTSC Jetstream

are all ahead of it as potential singles imo.

i initially hated the album but, admitedly i take it back cos its a grower!

J-E-T stream is an obvious single - ok its a bit cheesey but VERY catchy. And by featuring that bird from the Scissor Sisters (the hip band of the moment) its got hit single potential.

"Guilt" is also a sure-fire dance hit - i can just imagine some cool remixes of this doing the rounds. Is it just me though or does this remind others of something from the first Electronic album (ie. the good one).

The title track and Draculas Castle are some of the least inspiring on the album. zzzzzzzzz They will sink without a trace if released as singles. (as will the dull Krafty)

We noticed. It just wasn't funny.

Even less so the second time.

Although I haven't heard it yet (I'm boring I know), do you really think it would be a good idea to have a single named Dracula's Castle, regardless of how good/ not good it might be ? It would make them a laughing stock.

haven't heard the whole album, but Jetsteam surely has as much hit potential as any.

In fact, they missed a massive trick not releasing it as first single. It's so camp and Scissor sisterish, it'd ride on the crest of that particular wave and quite possibly even make no.1.

Backed by a decent Jacques Le Cont mix it'd have huge club potential as well

actually Dracula's Castle sounds like a leftover from Technique with bad lyrics... maybe thats why some people like it...

to be honest, after a few more listens... I'm surprised that this song was not just left off the album altogether

please read my statement with the laughing smilie. Constructing questionnaires consists basically in posing the right questions to get the desired result. That's my practical experience

First off, just want to say hello again. I have visited the site frequently since '99, been a fan since '86, signed up here a long time ago, but hardly posted, re-registered, etc., etc.

Anyway, I've heard the new album, think it's better than Get Ready and Republic, and really believe that the 2nd single should be "Hey Now What You Doing" (Road To Ruin is a much better title). It's a strong song throughout..well-written and executed. I'm surprised it's been overlooked on this thread (unless I overlooked a post). "Dracula's Castle" is a favorite of mine, probably because it sounds like a cousin to "Dream Attack", but I agree with previous posts that it doesn't have the hooks to be a radio single. If not "Hey Now.." as the 2nd single, then most definitely "Turn" should be next.

It's too bad that the legal album previews weren't these four songs:

Hey Now What You Doing

Waiting For The Sirens' Call

Dracula's Castle (what a title, ugh!)

Turn

In my opinion, "Jetstream" is among the worst songs N.O. has ever recorded. That stale chorus makes me cringe (almost anything N.O. has done with female back-ups doesn't fare well with me. Crystal is probably the best of the bunch).

Talk to you all again soon.
