Am watching the awards on Channel 4 as I write this. So chuffed to see the 'Order get this sort of well deserved recognition these days, will conincide nicely with the new LP promotion. When presented with the award by the Pet Shop Boys Barney cracked a few jokes, Hooky made a few dedications and was "really overcome" (bless), plus Alan Wise was hanging around in the background; huge guy! Song-wise we were treated to the following:-

Krafty - Came across incredibly well live, all the naysayers who dislike it may well be surprised at the forthcoming gigs. Barney's backing vocals were done by Dawn Zee and not reproduced from record which was refreshing. I sense a classic coming on...

LWTUA - A pretty faithful performance as seen during the 2001 gigs but I have to say the crowd went fucking mad at this one! Visibly more engaged than during the other bands songs. People were standing up from their tables cheering, heartwarming really! Steve's drumming was top notch as usual, what a machine...

Blue Monday - The intro was mixed with Kylie's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" but that soon faded as soon as the main keyboards started. Barney did his usual gimboid dancing during the lyric-less parts and Hooky hammered away on the pads :D but it was faded out as the credits played. The crowd similarly loved it, they're obviously not as sick to death of it as us New Order fans are :laugh:

Top notch, well done New Order, the new gigs will be amazing!

Indeed, WTF was Alan Wise doing up there?! He was down on a guestlist a couple of years ago, listed as "Bernard's P.A." but I've no idea what he actually does with the band now, other than being just 'a mate'.

If that was LIVE there was something wrong with the broadcast, Barney's mouth was not moving to the lyrics

I must admit, when i saw alan wise first, my intial thought was "jesus, phil's let himself go these last few months."

I'm sure I heard "mountains ravers and the human race" :laugh: I could be wrong, but it would tie in as Neil Tennant mentioned the band's nightclub being a cornerstone of rave culture in his opening speech before they accepted the award.

Just what I heard anyway! Diggy Mike I think Barney's vox were wholly live as I'd be the first to admit if it looked staged and subsequently slag them off :)

I'm sure the singing and hooky where live but the whole sound was a bit cack, probably just a bad P.A.

Nice to hear krafty live, sure they cut it short quite a bit, the wobbly synth wasn't there, which imho is better, I just wish he wouldn't shout c'mon in LWTUA, and hooky should stop sjouting as well.

Bernard seemed a little the worst for wear, shall we say. They've never done themselves justice on the big occasions, have they really, besides Move? He seemed to sound nervous (pissed) and faltering at times, a pity as it sounded good besides.
