What would Barney do if his autocue machine failed mid-song?

Obviously I meant "instrumental".

But his autocue doesn't help him, does it? Can't you see that the poor man can't read?

Have Hooky take over while he has an epileptic fit and stumbles into Phil's amp.

I have to admit it was a bit worrying seeing Bernard looking at his autocue a lot during the NME awards gig. Fair enough if he was playing Procession again, but I would have thought he'd know Krafty, LWTUA and Blue Monday pretty well by now. Krafty should be fresh in the memory!

Would be great to hear some knob related freeform lyrics again!

The question is: "what is actually on the autocue?". Back in 2002, the last time I saw the screen, it contained the lyrics only, no song structure or timings, just the lyrics. Will it contain chords and timings for the new songs, or even the older songs?

Let's face it, classical musicians always have the music on a sheet in front of them, so why shouldn't Godlike Geniuses have the lyrics there?

loads of good old knob jokes, plenty of shouting and swearing and the usual behaviour of a god like genius, failing that, he could get out his electronic tool kit put on his glasses, and try to repair it.

Ah the famous teleprompter. I too must admit it's not very "rock'n'roll" but perhaps Barney has a genuine need for it. When I filmed Pottsy's RAM performance at New Order's Glasgow 2001 dates (First night) RAM had to set up all their equipment around the 'Order's frankly space-age looking stuff, especially Steve's drums. I noticed these two flatscreen monitors down the front and thought "what are those? Wait a sec those are the lyrics to Crystal!" They were kind of frozen in mid-scroll.

Pottsy and his band had to do all their own soundchecking and when a problem arose with his microphone and he got bored of saying "Testing 1..2.." he simply started reading Crystal's lyrics off the screen  It was one of the more dramatic verses "I'm a man in a rage, with a girl I betrayed" and Pottsy read it in a sort of "taking the piss" manner (all in good humour of course)

Good laugh that... Oh and I voted for expletives.

Ally.

DEATH TO THE PROMPTER!!!!!!!!!!!11 I want "old Barney" back.....you know.....the one who exhibited all the symptoms of a truly unique blend of alzheimers and tourrette's. Although, it DOES add to the impact when he still throws one in: "If it wasn't for your big penis....."

AND he seriously needs to f* up about hooky's bass being too loud..... Barney, my friend, if it was any quiter we'd have to listen to YOU you pleb.

Barney will always have to look at the lyrics no matter how many times he sings the songs! i suppose in a way it adds to his stage preformance

He'll simply yell until the end of the something like..

"Bass sequencer, Ed!" "Synthesizer, Ed!" "Down!" (to Steve) "Hahaha" (to Phil) "Where's Hooky?" (to Hooky)

or if all else fails, grab his crotch and do the BLT One-Leg-Aerobic-Hop and follow it up speed-induced guitar solo, and finish up by insulting the audience.

That made me laugh so hard. I can just see Barney doing it...and Hooky laughing.

If it did happen you'd probably see him look a bit worried and then all of a sudden during the song "the f ucking teleprompter has gone" then hed probably just say "ill try and carry on anyway, bare with me...". Then i think at the end of the song thed get some people over to fix it.

I'd be very interested to see an age breakdwon of the voters, I suspect you'll find that many who voted for anything BUT the current leading option, are neophites, mere virgins who've never heard that woolwich coronet gig, or the rosehill hotel in kilkenny.

I think it is out social duty to commit ourselves to the destruction of the moron-spoonfeeder at all the gigs this summer. Release the Real Barney....FREE THE NEW ORDER ONE!!! Seriously, get close and yank the lead.....targhet a piss cannister ( the combination of electricity and urine should deter any rapid repairs too), whatever it takes.

I want New Order back!

Someone here must be able to sort it out so we can take control of the teleprompter. We'll hack into it and put our own versions up there for Barney to sing.

With working titles like "Pop 1" "Mini Disc 2" and "Fast Synth" for WFTSC, "Auto Cue" seems like a logical working name for a new track off the new EP/LP

The Rose Hill Hotel in Kilkenny!

God, what a gig! I remember taping it late at night on Radio Fab FM (around 1984, just after Thieves Like Us had come out) and it sounded like a total shambles, exactly how the Order should sound live. It was also on medium wave (AM to our American friends here) and the atmospherics were ridiculously active that night, the gig phasing in and out in a strange, psychedelic manner!

Some stonking songs on the bill though and Barney even asks the audience what they'd like to hear next. The expletives and altering the lyrics thing is in full effect too...which makes for an unpredictable gig.

Teleprompters: bad news but I suppose he struggles to remember some lyrics after twenty-five years (sometimes) and that's a lot of drugs and drink!
