A New (Order) Perspective

A friend of mine recently happened by the other day, brand spanking New Order album on rotation within his motion generator.

'Haven't you got it?'

... aghast by my lack of street cred.

I obviously replied to the negative but asked him to expand on his opinions. He is a music fan, but not a New Order specialist by any means - he's dabbled a bit, but he couldn't react quickly should you poise a query about The Village Idiot - which should hopefully colour this picture; he's listening with no agenda to wish for a good record - other than for something good to hear as he traverses the earth's crust on four wheels (sometimes three).

'I like One More Chance'.

... out of the entire album I hear you cry - yes.

To elaborate still further, he did not realise this was the first release from the new album, and he was enthusiastic about all of the tracks.

'There's some good shit on that album'.

Word from the street, truth.

Did you ask him how he had happened to choose that particular not-yet-released item for his vehicular listening pleasure, among all the options available?

He actually sang the chorus out which made the selection very, very clear.

I asked him about the caribbean one and the title track which I have heard and think is the best thing since sliced cheese. He acknowledged their greatness and as said, 'bigged up' the entire gig.

To put another wall around the scenario, I lent him Getting Things Ridiculous back in '86 and he gave me it back ... mostly unplayed.

I should add that his influences are varied but include the Pet Shop Owners, The Red Hostile Chippy Preparators and The U2 Dozy Bono Band.

Well, it's nice to hear from another satisfied customer. The last time I thought about RHCP, I felt they put too many songs on their albums.

Speaking of Krispy, I currently have the ending instrumental bit stuck in my head.

TOTALLY OFF TOPIC Are you two the same person?

Patrick, When the Sirens themselves come Calling, you will never want for a different ending to a song.

Krispy will simply be a fruit with which to be consumed.

H, I am waiting with a mixture of patience and impatience for the day when the sirens come a-calling for me. When that day comes, I expect never to be hungry again.
