After finally getting the chance to taste the fruits of Muffy's large and generous package, the live version of Procession has once again hauled this song back to its rightful place as my fave track, NO or otherwise.

Talking of the my original post re: Procession - To be honest Muff I've not had a chance to listen to too many of the tunes, but I've played that Procession about 5 times over. You can almost feel the excitement of the band and crowd in relation to those spine tingling synths. Being a relative latecomer to the 'Order, it helps me get a grasp on what an exciting and innovative band they were at this point. Beautiful.
ive never heard any live versions of "procession", still i find the studio version utterly heart wrenching and bewitching, anyway. its definitely one of my favourite songs too. what i find difficult to fathom, though is some of the reviews ive read from the time of its release. how dare those cold-hearted, cloth-eared, small-minded, stultifyingly pretentious hacks slate such a beautiful record?
I imagine, (imagine as I was about 4 at the time of its release), that it was just too challenging a record for the muppet hacks. It has a feel of being miles ahead of its time on this live version I'm ranting on about - which is from '85. VG risk mailing the muffster, it will be worthwhile I promise you
p.s. stultifying? I've never heard of that word...but I like it!
Procession's a class track, but I always thought it was kinda superceded by 'Sunrise' - I just think they sound kinda similar, much in the same way EGG spawned Temptation.

I'll have to give it a listen with that in mind Al. By the way, Together tickets all booked for NYE. Have to listen out for Here to stay or whatevers its called.
I never really got into Procession until I saw the Taras video, then I started to appreciate the song. The version on Muffy's disc is similarly faster tempo, in case you haven't the foggiest what I mean when I say "the Taras video"
Agree with you Sebsy - it's not in my Top 10 - but it's not far away mate;) Still, Procession is a rough diamond from the early years
