New Order get all Krafty Not to be outdone by the whipper-snappers of the city, Manchester's grand statesmen of music, the mighty New Order, return to the fray after a couple of years absence with the immensely funky Krafty.
After the success of 2001's Get Ready and the four CD retrospective smorgasbord, Retro, the band went away to find themselves a fresh route into our hearts, and if Krafty is anything to go by, they've found it.
The single, out on Monday 7 March, is the first to be taken from the band's eighth studio outing, Waiting For The Sirens' Call, and is a slice of bass-driven, picture-perfect pop that New Order excel at.
The band that, according to Bernard Sumner, unites "spotty students and football hooligans" could be about to do it all over again. As the rest of the city looks to their history for inspiration, the band themselves are throwing themselves headlong into the future.
