Okay guys, I know I'll be shot down for this (as always0 but Jetstream is so awful it's good.

I hate to say it but it's really catchy - the catchiest New Order track since 'True Faith'.

I've tried listening to 'Confusion' on repeat, then going out for a pint.

On the way to the pub, I had... 'Jetstream' in my head.

I got drunk, came home and listened to my favourite album - 'Lowlife'.

When I woke up in the morning, which tune do you think I was humming?

'Perfect Kiss'? 'Subculture'? 'Elegia'? 'Love Vigilantes'?

NOPE!

Jet F***ing Stream....

Either New Order have found some magic formula for the (alleged) next single, or there's something wrong with me...

Okay, go ahead, tell me what's wrong with me....

A future grab-a-granny night classic - no mistake!

I won't be grabbing MY granny... unless I dig her up first... There are a few others that I've considered in the past though *oh, the shame, the shame...*

On the basis that yer average wedding disco dj will play one New Order song in the night, at least a new "catchy one" might displace Blue Monday from the wheels of steel.

If you really want to send yourself mad, play Jetstream in your headphones when you're taking off in an actual aeroplane. I did it (only by coincidence, I'm not that corny) at the weekend. Classic cheese moments as the Hostess samples and engine sounds mix with the real thing!

Chris, i'm right there with you. This has been a chronic problem with New Order lately. Vietnam, Krafty and now Jetstream, have all been initially repulsive to me. Even to the point to where i had almost given up hope on them ever being class again. I find my self singing along to Jetstream all the time. My girlfriend was singing it Sunday when she turned to me and said, "You Bastard!, You got that damn song stuck in my head!" It's not Procession or Sunrise but it's a gooey classic under the layers of cheese, if you have the fortitude to bite through to the center.

Thanks for the sympathy... Tricia has already hit me (twice) when I've put it on the stereo.... I understand completely!

Its the song that comes after it that does the same to me. Can't get Guilt out of my head.

Guilt? So, you have a secret Ronnie? Get on your knees and tell Father Chris all about it... *lol*

I know what you mean though - there are actually several catchy tracks when people bother to give the album a chance. I don't think there's a duff track on the thing, and even though I'm a dedicated fan, that did surprise me after 'Get Ready' and the truly awful 'Run Wild'..

My fave is still 'Dracula's Castle' - there's a real 'Technique' vulnerability to it - lyrically/vocal tune and a subtle instrumental theme... and 'Technique' has never been my favourite NO album.

I just hope that those here who have been criticising without giving the album a proper chance see something in it at last - most of all, for their own enjoyment and love of the band and their music!

Cheers mate :thumb:

You're right Chris. Its a great album. I think there's something for every kind of fan on it. For me its a welcome return of synth and a few dancable tracks.

I am so embarassed to like this song....this is terrible...at first....now I cannot get it out of my head!!

This and I told you so (aka ace of base) are the most popish/radio friendly songs...and both damn good imo.

I find myself addicted the whole album, but I just have "who's joe?" & "hey now what you doing" more than anything else stuck in my head, classics! Jetstream has a great guitar bridge that does it for me, can't live without that song. Its so sad, lol, I have to hear it everday!:D

hahaha

I entirely share your sentiments gentlemen !

Jetstream has been playing loudly in my car for the past week and I must confess that I've been singing along that chorus quite a few times!

But it's so cheesy that I feel very embarassed... my girlfriend is sick of it already!

The only way I can get away with this is to play the "tongue-in-cheek attitude" card...

:blackeye: :music:

A pure cheese moment musically and in the moment, when i was waiting for my Easyjet flight back to London Luton...Draculas Castle ended just as they made the call to queue up at the gate....J----(f*****g)----E----T etc! I felt like i was in a teen movie with a friggin soundtrack accompanying me! At least I like it better than Guilt...
